It seems a familiar face might be making their way back to Firehouse 51 for the final episode of Chicago Fire season 14.
On March 27, NBC announced the renewal of all three One Chicago shows, including Chicago Fire, which has secured a fifteenth season. Shortly after the news broke, the Chicago Fire cast began reacting to the news on social media and celebrating the confirmation of another season. Among those who took to Instagram to celebrate and share the news with their followers was Chicago Fire star Brandon Larracuente, who offered up a behind-the-scenes look from the set when the renewal news was announced to the cast and crew.Â
In the video, Larracuente captured the excited reactions from his co-stars and the crew as we see several familiar faces in the crowd, including David Eigenberg (Herrmann), Christian Stolte (Mouch), Randy Flagler (Capp), and more. But there is also another very familiar face who just happened to be on set when the renewal announcement came through: Jake Lockett.

Lockett can be seen among the cast and crew who were present on set when the season 15 renewal announcement was made, standing among his former co-stars when the news was revealed to the cast and crew. Interestingly, despite being on set when the renewal news was announced, Lockett has not released any direct statements on his personal social media accounts sharing the news, which seems to suggest that his presence on the set might have been intended to be kept under wraps.Â
Fans will recall that Lockett made a surprise cameo earlier in season 14, when Carver passed through Chicago with members from his unit in Denver. During his appearance, it became clear that he wasn’t over Violet, especially through the jealous behavior he displayed in his interactions with Vasquez. The episode ended with Violet noting that everything worked out for the best as he promised to be in touch.Â
Carver’s return ended up giving Violet the nudge she needed to finally move on following their breakup, leading to a surprise hookup with Vasquez. While things seemed promising between the pair, Violet put a quick end to things out of fear that Novak was still interested in Vasquez and not wanting to make things messier than they had become by pursuing a relationship with Vasquez.
With Violet icing out Vasquez so as not to potentially hurt Novak, it would be interesting if the writers chose to bring Carver back for another guest appearance or even a guest arc to make Violet question her romantic future. While we’ve loved seeing the Violet and Vasquez storyline play out, there is certainly a vocal part of the fandom that wants nothing more than to see Violet and Carver actually get a shot at happiness following their many failed attempts to see what a relationship between them could look like.Â
Knowing Lockett was on set during the filming of the finale, we have to wonder if he’ll appear in the closing moments of the finale to set up a season-ending cliffhanger in which Carver will show up at Violet’s doorstep hoping for another chance. That would certainly keep fans talking all summer long and give the writers some amazing material to work with at the top of season 15!
