The FBI franchise is about to expand in a new direction, and One Chicago fans won’t want to miss the latest addition to CBS’s hit franchise!
On February 23, CBS will welcome fans into the world of CIA, a new series starring Chicago Med alum Nick Gehlfuss and Lucifer star Tom Ellis, as a pair of unlikely partners thrust together. Gehlfuss plays the straight-laced, by-the-book partner in the duo, FBI agent Bill Goodman, while Ellis will be playing CIA agent Colin Glass, a fast-talking, rule-breaking loose cannon. This is a dynamic that comes into play immediately in the first trailer for CIA, giving fans a tease of what’s to come in the new series.
The debut trailer opens with Ellis’s character taking a polygraph as a man asks if he’s ever told a lie to which he quickly quips, “Isn’t lying part of the job description of the CIA?” Cut to Colin introducing a colleague to his new partner, Bill, with the pair toasting as Colin complains about Bill reading him the riot act for fibbing to a suspect at a safe house.
The trailer weaves together a series of clips that give us a brief glimpse into the characters’ dynamic, including a clip in which they expressly point out the differences between the CIA and FBI. “You guys work in the open, we work in the shadows,” Colin comments, to which Bill replies, “We both do it to keep our countries safe.”
We get to see the pair racing through the city with plenty of action and humor mixed into the trailer, which does a great job of hooking viewers by giving away just enough without revealing too much. One thing that is clear is that while we’re certainly in store for a bit more humor than the FBI franchise has brought us over the years, the stakes remain just as high as we see shootouts, explosions, and chases across the brief teaser.

In addition to Ellis and Gehlfuss, CIA also stars Natalee Linez as CIA Analyst Gina Rojas and Necar Zadegan as the Chief of the CIA. Zadegan stepped in to replace Michael Michele, who exited the series just weeks into filming. It's not yet known how many episodes Michele will appear in or how her character will be written out of the show. Additional casting announcements are expected to be confirmed closer to the show's release.
Don’t miss the series premiere of CIA starring Nick Gehlfuss and Tom Ellis, Monday, February 23, 2026, at 10/9c on CBS!
