We might still have a few months in the summer hiatus, but it seems work has officially begun on Chicago Fire season 15!
Longtime director of photography Anthony J. Lullo took to Instagram on July 15 to share a pair of behind-the-scenes photos, which confirm production has officially begun on the upcoming season. The first of the two photos shared via Lullo’s Instagram Stories featured a number of crew badges sprawled across a table, while a second photo took us into Lottie’s Pub, which serves as the backdrop for Chicago Fire’s fictional bar Molly’s.
While it seems cameras might not begin rolling until the week of July 20, it’s clear that production on season 15 is now underway, which is truly exciting news!
With production on season 15 now underway and filming set to begin soon, we’ll likely begin seeing more updates from the cast and crew as they return to set and begin working on the upcoming season of Chicago Fire. This does also mean that fans who tend to not like spoilers might want to be vigilant on social media to prevent potential season 15 spoilers.
Given that Chicago Fire often films on location throughout the city of Chicago and surrounding areas, we could begin to get confirmation on which actors will and won’t be back for the season very soon. Set photos will definitely help clue fans in on the outcome of the season 14 finale cliffhanger, and we at One Chicago Center will be keeping our ears to the ground for the latest updates on the forthcoming season.
Speaking of which, it seems that casting has begun on several stand-in roles for season 15. Project Casting has put out several Chicago Fire paid stand-in roles for actors in the Chicago area, looking for talent who closely matches the physical appearance for several key characters. While the postings do not mention characters or actors by name, it’s easy to skim the various postings and pick up on the corresponding Chicago Fire character they match.
These stand-in roles are connected to each of the main series regulars' characters on the show, including Mouch, Severide, Novak, Cruz, Kidd, Herrmann, and Vasquez. The only series regular who doesn’t seem to have a stand-in opening at the moment is Dermot Mulroney’s Dom Pascal.
No further details are provided on the roles to offer up spoilers about the upcoming season, and it’s not uncommon for stand-ins to be brought in early to help with camera blocking and rehearsals. We would be more worried if one of the main characters whose life was left on the line in the season 14 finale was not on the list, but every series regular tied to the cliffhanger is on the list.
We’ll see if any further postings go up on the casting site to indicate possible new additions or plot lines, but for now it’s certainly exciting to know that things are coming together behind the scenes and Chicago Fire season 15 is one step closer to making its way to our televisions!
