On March 4, the Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago PD casts will come together for the 2026 One Chicago Crossover event and it seems the creative teams have somehow found a way to up the ante from last year’s “In the Trenches” crossover!

Eerily dubbed the “Reckoning” crossover event, the 2026 crossover event will involve a passenger jet that goes missing mid-air that kicks off a bigger and deadlier mystery. The action will begin on Chicago Fire when Firehouse 51 is called to an airfield after a passenger jet suddenly goes missing mid-air. This triggers a high-stakes emergency and the discovery opens up the bigger mystery that will unfold across the three hours.

“Everybody listen up, we have a commercial aircraft that’s gone dark without warning or explanation,” Upton tells her team of FBI agents in the opening of the newly released promo for the crossover as we watch Firehouse 51 arrive on the scene. We see Upton on the airstrip alongside Severide, Chief Pascal and a group of FBI agents as we watch Cruz and two other members of the Firehouse 51 team approach the plane on one of the rigs.

As Cruz opens the door to the plane, we cut to Kidd and Severide having a serious conversation back at the firehouse as Kidd describes the situation as “horrific” as he assures her they’re going to find who did this. The question is, what exactly is the “this” Severide is referring to and how is the passenger jet involved?

Interestingly, it seems that whoever is behind this attack is motiviated somehow by the actions of fire responders. “So you’re saying we created this monster?” Chief Pascal says to an individual who appears to be Voight, but their face is not shown making it hard to know with certainty.

The action continues to move swiftly as we see Halstead caught up in a shootout with an armed gunman with a pair of individuals in hazmat suits caught in the crossfire. Cut to Archer telling the team at Gaffney, “We have no idea what this is capable of, none of us do,” as he and the medical team at Med seem to be wearing full bodysuits typically only donned when dealing with a contagious disease.

“There’s gotta be a way to stop this thing,” Severide asserts before we see Burgess on the street as an explosion goes off in a building behind her. The promo then ends with the shot from the first promo which sees Halstead and Upton back together again as he tells her it’s “Good to see you,” amid the chaos around them.

Needless to say, the new promo certainly leaves us wanting more and with dozens of new questions we’re dying to get answers to!

How did the passenger plane go missing while in mid-air? What did 51 find when they opened the plane door? Why did Pascal say they created the monster behind this attack? Is a contagion involved and is that just one aspect of the attack? How is Halstead caught up in this and how will his and Upton’s reunion unfold? If this is about a contagious infection, why are there so many explosions involved in the promos? How will the first responders save the day?

The list goes on and on, but thankfully we’ll get answers to these questions and more when Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago PD come together for the “Reckoning” crossover event on March 4 on NBC!
