Between the 10th and 11th seasons of Chicago Med, the medical drama has brought back several characters from the series' long history. Fortunately for fans, the show did such a great job with the returns of Robin Charles and Anna Charles that they need to be part of season 11.
If Dr. Will Halstead's return focuses on 1 storyline, that could make his comeback even better. Many of the show's biggest fans were also overjoyed to see Dr. Sarah Reese's return, despite the drama that ensued.
Considering how exciting Chicago Med's returns have been, it should seem obvious that more character comebacks would be great for the show. Still, that would leave a major question for the team behind the medical drama to answer. Which departed Chicago Med character should be brought back next? In my opinion, I think it is obvious that Dr. Crockett Marcel returning to the show would be truly fantastic.
Why Dominic Rains should return to Chicago Med as Dr. Crockett Marcel
In September 2024, Chicago Med's showrunner, Allen MacDonald, spoke to Variety about taking control of the series. During that discussion, Allen told the outlet that one aspect of running Chicago Med that he was excited about was getting to bring back characters from the show's past.
"One thing I love about the One Chicago world is just because someone has exited the show, they’re still part of the world. And I like checking in with people."
With that quote in mind, it seems extremely likely that Dr. Will Halstead won't be the last character from Chicago Med's past that Allen will bring back. As such, I want to express how exciting it would be to see Dominic Rains portray Dr. Crockett Marcel again.
Since Chicago Med premiered in 2015, most of the show's original main stars have left. As a result, the show has routinely introduced new main characters for viewers to invest in.
However, the truth is that almost all of those new characters have never meant as much to the majority of the show's fans as those original stars did. For many of the show's most passionate fans, the one exception to that has been Dr. Marcel.
An effortlessly charming character, Dr. Marcel became one of the biggest focuses of Chicago Med almost from the second he showed up. From there, fans spent 4 seasons getting to know Dr. Marcel better, and most only grew to love the character more. Incredibly principled and skilled at what he did,
Dr. Marcel was a compelling character to watch practice medicine. The fact that Crockett had a tragic backstory only made fans invest in him more up until the moment that he left Gaffney Chicago Medical Center due to his principles.
Now that Dr. Marcel has been gone since season 9 ended, it would be wonderful to see if he has found any peace and where his medical career has taken him since. On top of the storyline reasons to bring him back, Dr. Marcel is so charming and likable that seeing more of him would be very welcome.
