Chicago Med, Fire, and PD are not new tonight (and that's not even the worst news)

There will sadly be no new episodes of the One Chicago shows airing on May 20, and there's even more bad news for Chicago Med, Fire, and PD fans.

Wednesday has rolled around, but sadly there are no new episodes of Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago PD coming fans’ way this week.

The May 13 episodes of the One Chicago shows served as each show’s respective season finale, which is why each show ended with some variation of a cliffhanger. While past seasons have had 22 or more episodes, Chicago Med season 11, Chicago Fire season 14, and Chicago PD season 13 consist of one less episode, with each season comprised of 21 episodes total.

This shortened season order is why the One Chicago shows signed off for the summer so much earlier than expected and wrapped their runs before many CBS shows, which are airing their finales across the week. Our summer break has officially begun, and as if the news that there are no new episodes of the One Chicago shows airing on May 20 wasn’t bad enough, we’ve got even worse news.

Not only are there no new episodes of Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago PD this Wednesday night on NBC, but there won’t even be One Chicago reruns to look forward to!

That’s right, NBC has pulled the One Chicago shows from the lineup on May 20 and will be turning over the primetime block to the NBA. Rather than airing reruns of Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago PD, NBC will be airing primetime coverage of the NBA Finals beginning at 8 p.m. ET with the NBA Pregame, followed by live coverage of the Western Conference Finals Game 2 between the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder.

While we’re certain NBA fans are eager to enjoy coverage of the NBA Finals this evening, it’s a devastating blow to One Chicago fans who were hoping to enjoy a night of reruns in the shows’ first week of the summer break.

The good news is that NBC will be airing reruns of Chicago Fire and Chicago PD in primetime beginning on May 27. The encore presentations of the two long-running One Chicago dramas will air in their regularly scheduled time slots with new episodes of Brilliant Minds kicking off the night and bumping Chicago Med from the mix in the process.

Thankfully, if you feel like taking a trip to the Windy City at any point this summer, you can stream all seasons of Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago PD on Peacock! So while NBC might not be keeping One Chicago Wednesdays intact through the summer, fans can host their own One Chicago rewatches Wednesday nights by revisiting their favorite episodes from the season (or past seasons) on Peacock!
