For the One Chicago franchise, crossovers aren't anything new. On top of the regular three-episode events between all three shows, there are also frequent casual crossovers with some characters appearing naturally in another show's storyline. It's not often that there's something in between those two extremes, but Chicago Med star Jessy Schram has something in mind for her character.
You would think that Schram's idea would be have a relation to Chicago Fire, which is the series that most often crosses over with Chicago Med. As paramedics, Violet and Novak bring patients to Gaffney all the time, which allows the characters to cross paths on both shows sometimes. But Schram has an idea that would team up Asher with the Chicago PD crew.
Jessy Schram hopes Asher could appear on Chicago PD
In a recent interview, Schram reflected on how Asher made her first appearance in Chicago PD during last season's three-episode "Reckoning" crossover event. However, given Asher's medical background and focus in obstetrics and gynecology at the emergency department, the actress believes there's a way to incorporate her character into a PD episode with a nod to another hit series.
"She's met quite a few of those characters, but I just keep thinking about how neat it would be to have Hannah exposed to the PD world with what Hannah does as an OB/GYN and ED practitioner, and what they do with solving their cases, [that] could go hand in hand a little bit more [Law & Order] SVU-style, I guess you could say," Schram explained.

There are many instances in Asher working with her pregnant patients to save both their lives and the life of their unborn children (it's already happened in season 12!), and that's a connection that she could share with the team at the police department if it's necessary for one of their cases. It's hard to formulate a specific pitch for an Asher crossover on Chicago PD, though it's a great idea.
Schram noted that her concept for a crossover has less to do with Med and PD crossing over as a whole, but more to do with her character teaming up with another cast: "I think that's less of a character and more of a general show... I think that if there were to be some kind of crossover, I think that would be really neat to see how they could work in tandem with each other."
NBC hasn't revealed whether there will be another three-episode crossover event for this cycle of the franchise, and a recent update from a cast member suggested that it's still up in the air. If we don't get the formal event-style crossover, the franchise leaning into more concentrated one-off, character-driven crossovers like the one Schram pitched could be the perfect move for fans.
While the crossover events always drum up excitement and encourage fans to stick around for all three shows, smaller drop-ins from single characters could be another strategy for the show's to stay fresh and try new things with intertwined stories. Obviously, seeing the little cameos at the hospital or wherever are fun, but a full episode of a standalone story further encourage fans of one show to tune into the other if they aren't a religious viewer. We love a creative and natural ratings booster.
More than anything, and I don't know about you, but Asher is one of the best characters on Chicago Med and one of my personal favorites. She deservers to be highlighted for more than she does for her incredible work, and Schram's consistently moving performances would be nothing be an asset for the Chicago PD team if they ever called her up for a crossover episode.
