Our favorite first responders might have made it out of the One Chicago crossover unscathed – well at least for the most part – but it seems one member of the Chicago Med team is about to find themselves in hot water and at risk of losing their job at the hospital.
In the logline for episode 12, “In The Wake,” airing Feb. 5, it’s teased that a member of the E.D. makes a mistake that may cost them their job. Interestingly, no details are provided about the name of the doctor or nurse who could be at risk of losing their job following the mistake which means we could end up with a pretty large suspect pool to worry about.
There do appear to be two characters we can likely rule out of the equation and those two characters are Dr. Goodwin and Dr. Ripley. In the logline for the new episode, NBC teases three major storylines set to unfold across the episode which includes the storyline that will find one member of the E.D. at risk of losing their job. It also teases specific storylines for Goodwin and Ripley, which seems to suggest they will not be in any danger of losing their jobs – though they will have to face some major moments this week.
As hinted in the promo, Goodwin is going to be struggling with the psychological aftermath of the attack from the winter finale/premiere which nearly cost her her life. We know she’s seeing visions of her attacker and NBC has tapped NCIS: New Orleans star CCH Pounder to play Goodwin’s therapist, who will help her work through the trauma she has experienced. Meanwhile, it seems that Ripley will have his hands full working to treat a young patient with helicopter parents.
Due to the crossover, we don’t have show-specific promos this week so our only tease for Chicago Med was built around Goodwin’s storyline which makes it hard to deduce who could be at the center of the storyline involving the staffer who could be in danger of losing their job. What we do know is that it seems someone will find themselves in hot water and it also seems likely that this person could be someone other than a doctor as the use of “staffer” seems to hint perhaps a nurse or other member of the staff could be at risk.
Either way, it’s going to be interesting to see whether there is actual cause for concern about someone leaving Med by the episode’s end. It seems likely the storyline will be resolved by the episode’s end and won’t result in the staffer losing their job; however, the One Chicago shows have always kept us on our feet so we can never rule out an unexpected exit.
Fans will just have to tune in at 8/7c tonight on NBC to find out whether Med bids farewell to a member of its team or if all works out in the end for the unnamed staffer at risk of losing their job!
