In 2025, Chicago Med fans have had a lot to be excited about since the show created several moments that reminded viewers what there is to love about the medical drama. On top of that, there is no denying that the show also boasts an incredibly talented cast who portray characters that mean the world to the show's many fans. While that is worthy of celebrating, it also has to be noted that there are aspects of the show that are disappointing.
Unfortunately, some Chicago Med characters have recently let the show's viewers down for various reasons. On top of that, the fact of the matter is that many fans have remained disappointed by the fact that their favorite characters from the show's past are gone. For me, the fact that Dr. Dylan Scott left Chicago Med after only one season remains a huge disappointment.
Chicago Med's Dr. Dylan Scott needed to last on the show much longer

During season 7 of Chicago Med, fans of the show were introduced to Guy Lockard as Dr. Dylan Scott. Whenever an actor is brought in as a new main Chicago Med character, I try to quickly gauge if I think I will like them. Fortunately, it didn't take long for me to warm up to Dr. Scott for two reasons that were equally important factors in what made me love the character.
First off, I think that the dynamic that the show set up for Dr. Scott was extremely compelling and led to many interesting situations. As a former police officer with connections to the area around the fictional Gaffney Chicago Medical Center, Dr. Scott brought a unique perspective to the show. While it seems like Dr. Mitch Ripley's background may have seemed like they were trying to recreate a similar dynamic, I don't think it ever worked as well. Part of the reason for that is Dr. Ripley lacked the cop past that helped Dr. Scott stand out.
Another huge reason why I loved Dr. Scott as a character was that he seemed to radiate warmth every moment he was onscreen. Whether it was the actor's voice, how invested the character was in helping patients, and especially how great he was with kids, Dr. Scott was a fantastic presence on the show.
While looking back at what I think made Dr. Scott so great, I am deeply disappointed that he departed after only starring in a single Chicago Med season. The fact that another fan published a post on the r/ChicagoMed subreddit about Dr. Scott being their favorite character makes me sure I'm not alone.
