Chicago Med has managed to stay on the air for 11 seasons because the medical drama has created many moments that fans of the series care deeply about. In fact, Chicago Med episodes that premiered in 2025 featured several different moments that reminded fans why they love the series. If that wasn't enough, the show has also introduced storylines that fans have cared about enough that they demand that they get paid off.
Unfortunately, the fact of the matter is that there have been some Chicago Med storylines that have simply never been resolved in the ways that they should be. In one case, it seems highly possible that the storyline will never be paid off the way it should because the character Dr. Sarah Reese has left the series. Hopefully, that will change soon.
In the later years of Chicago Med, the show has introduced several characters that viewers grew to care about. In fact, the show's current cast is dominated by actors who weren't part of the show from the start. Even though many characters who were added later have worked great, there is still no denying that many fans care a little bit more about the characters who were part of the show when it began.
As one of Chicago Med's original characters, Dr. Sarah Reese holds a special place in the show's history. Many fans have especially been invested in Dr. Reese's long-standing, and often dysfunctional, relationship with her former mentor, Dr. Daniel Charles. Sadly, however,
her relationship with Dr. Charles didn't really feel like it got closure when Dr. Reese left the show the first time. As a result, it was exciting that Dr. Reese was brought back during Chicago Med season 10 as part of a storyline involving Dr. Charles.
Unfortunately, Dr. Reese and Dr. Charles found themselves battling one another again during season 10. While they eventually made some level of peace, it still felt like they hadn't truly grown to understand one another, or the importance of their relationship to both of them. Then, the season 10 finale teased Dr. Reese treating Dr. Charles at a time of extreme vulnerability for him. Strangely enough, however, that storyline has seemingly been completely dropped during the season 11 episodes that have aired so far.
Given how things ended for the two important Chicago Med characters, I firmly believe that Dr. Reese needs to be brought back to help Dr. Charles, who is still struggling on some level. That way, the show could finally show Dr. Charles gauge the merits of Dr. Reese's approach, which he has disagreed with in the past, firsthand. How the show handles what could come after that is what would decide if Dr. Reese could finally get the satisfying exit her character deserves.
