We're getting closer to the highly anticipated returns of the One Chicago shows on NBC this fall, and leading up to the big premieres, the network has been teasing fans with exciting first looks at the new seasons. The latest Chicago Med season 12 trailer dropped on Peacock and gave us hints for what to expect from the premiere episode, including an unexpected death.

However, Chicago Med fans were likely fixated on another aspect of the latest season 12 trailer and which of the main cast members were accounted for. If you're like us and were keeping track of which Gaffney doctors were present in the trailer, then you also noticed one very noticeable absence. That's right, Sarah Ramos was not present as Dr. Lenox. But should fans be worried she's not coming back?

Let's all breathe a sigh of relief. We don't have to be concerned that Dr. Lenox will suddenly be disappearing in Chicago Med season 12. Ramos has been confirmed to return in her series regular role, though as most fans might know, the actress announced her pregnancy before the season 11 finale and will be away for maternity leave for much of season 12's early episodes.

Sarah Ramos will miss multiple Chicago Med season 12 episodes

Chicago Med showrunner Allen MacDonald confirmed Ramos' absence last month and explained that she will miss multiple episodes at the beginning of season 12. "Sarah, because of her pregnancy, will be taking the majority of the beginning of the season off. She will be away for a while." Obviously, the series will not be writing the star's pregnancy into the show for Lenox.

While Ramos hasn't announced the birth of her first child, she recently returned to Instagram, sharing her first since July, with a carousel of photos for an event she attended for the Emmy Awards. In addition to starring in Chicago Med, Ramos also appeared in FX's The Bear, which celebrated its final run at the awards ceremony this year, though it didn't take home any wins this time.

She hasn't given fans a glimpse of her and husband Matt Spicer's baby, though she's clearly reveling in the glow of motherhood at home in Los Angeles before heading back to Chicago to get back to work with her castmates at Gaffney. Currently, it's unclear how Lenox's multi-episode absence will be explained, but there's sure to be a simple explanation for her being gone for a bit.

Lenox could be away for a medial conference, a trial for her Gerstmann-Sträussler-Scheinker (GSS) disease, or spending time with her brother. Seeing as the season 11 finale left Lenox and Ripley at a positive place in their relationship, her sudden disappearance from the show will have to be addressed in some manner, and hopefully that doesn't spell trouble for the couple.

The latest trailer made no mention of Lenox, but that's to be expected since it was merely a short teaser for the premiere episode. We did catch glimpses of Ripley, Frost, and Archer tending to patients while Asher visited the hospital with baby Mabel. And there's tension brewing between Charles and Goodwin. We're already in for an exciting start to the new season!

Chicago Med season 12 premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 8/7c on NBC.
