If you thought Chicago Med season 11 was finished with casting surprises after Halstead and Manning's dramatic return at the top of the season, then you thought wrong!
While watching the long-running medical drama series, we're often surprised by the guest stars who appear in the case-of-the-week storylines. Throughout the show's 10-year history, there have been so many excellent guest stars, and the most recent episode delighted TV lovers with not only an appearance from another medical drama veteran but also one of the stars of ABC's beloved legal drama series How to Get Away with Murder.
Lenox and Ripley took on a case concerning a married couple, Devin and Faye Carter, and the injuries they sustained from a kitchen accident. Faye was played by Olivia Nikkanen, who has appeared in Supergirl and The Society, and her husband Devin was played by How to Get Away with Murder star and Connor Walsh actor Jack Falahee. His appearance was quite the surprise for fans!

Jack Falahee guest starred in Chicago Med season 11 episode 4
Chicago Med marks Jack Falahee's most recent television role since appearing in two episodes of NBC's unfortunately canceled drama series Grosse Pointe Garden Society (which really gave How to Get Away with Murder vibes!). While HTGAWM fans definitely adored Connor, Falahee's character in Chicago Med isn't one that you want to root for or can actually like at all.
Even though Faye's injuries were initially explained as a kettle exploding and causing burns and other wounds, one of the nurses noticed that Faye put a red dot on the bottom of a urine sample container — a covert sign for help in a domestic violence situation. Lenox confronts Faye about this signal, which opens the door to the revelation that Devin has been abusing her.
Faye passes out and Lenox and Nurse Nancy (Lynette Li) discover more injuries on Faye's abdomen, leading to a life-saving procedure due to her lacerated spleen. Through it all, Devin remains worried about Faye and even waits outside her room with flowers, though on some level, he's concerned about himself. In spite of showing Faye support, Lenox doesn't get through to her to leave Devin. Lenox and Devin have one last standoff at the episode's end.
For now, Falahee's guest starring role in Chicago Med season 11 appears as a one-off, but based on how Lenox and Devin left things, there seems to be a chance that we could see Devin and Faye back at Gaffney later this season. We don't particularly like Devin, but it would great to continue seeing Jack Falahee, especially he's playing this character with so much nuance.
Chicago Med airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on NBC, streaming next day on Peacock.
