The temperatures outside might be falling, but things are about to heat up in the Windy City! The promo for the upcoming tenth episode of Chicago Med season 11 brought about an unexpected change in pace.
Rather than focusing on the latest medical cases of the week, the promo for episode 10, “Frost on Fire,” poses the question of “Who’s doing what, behind closed doors?” We see a door handle being jiggled indicating it’s been locked as we cut to what appears to be a hospital supply closet where a male character stands shirtless as a female character begins unbuttoning her top.
The Chicago Med editing team did a brilliant job of hiding the identities of the two characters about to hook up in the supply closet. However, in taking a closer look at the brief moment we see the characters together, we’re certain the characters featured in the promo are none other than Dr. Caitlin Lenox and Dr. Mitch Ripley!

The promo might play up the Dean and Hannah will-they-won’t-they dynamic, but it’s clear that the two characters making out in the supply closet are not Dean and Hannah. The build of these characters and the attire we see them wearing does not match up with Dean or Hannah’s builds or the wardrobe we see them wearing in the promo. The two characters’ builds do, however, match up with those of Ripley and Lenox, who have been thrust together in the last few episodes.
While there has not been any romantic connection between the two characters previously explored, both characters have been known to be a bit reckless. They’re both single, and Lenox has been showing signs of making irrational decisions so far this season promoting some unexpected hookups.
After Ripley came to Lenox’s aid in the winter premiere and then helped her cover the truth about how Devin was killed to protect Faye, we imagine the pair are going to remain in one another’s orbit. Could this moment lead to something unexpected developing between the two characters? We certainly have a sense that could be the case.
Chicago Med showrunner Allen MacDonald recently made it clear in an interview with One Chicago Center that there is no chance of Ripley and Hannah getting back together. Knowing that storyline is off the table and the book is closed on the pair, the door is open for Ripley and Lenox to explore a relationship – even if it does end up just being a steamy supply closet hookup and not something meaningful, at least to begin.
We could absolutely see the pair beginning as a no-strings-attached type arrangement that deepens into something more meaningful as they open up to one another.
These are two characters who are both flawed and haven’t always been lucky in love. We’d love to see the pair thrust together and begin as a casual fling before evolving into something more serious. Ripley is an amazing guy, and he’s shown the women in his life he will show up for them, and Lenox could certainly use someone like that in her corner!
