When it comes to the doctors on Chicago Med, one thing's for sure: Their pasts are just as complicated as their present. They might currently be involved in stressful love triangles and struggling with various interpersonal pressures as they save lives, but they can rarely deny the push and pull of their pasts coming back around as a reminder, none more so than Dr. Frost.
Since his arrival in Chicago Med season 10, Frost's past as a child star on a popular 2000s sitcom has been explored in various storylines. He confronted an actress from the sitcom who had an inappropriate relationship with him and caused him to have issues with getting close to people. Meanwhile, season 11 brought him face-to-face with a former costar whose career has stalled.
Frost will continue to unpack his past in Chicago Med season 11 episode 12
In the latest episodes of Chicago Med and Chicago Fire, Frost has been getting closer to Novak, but he'll have to again face the past. As the official synopsis for Chicago Med season 11 episode 12, which is titled "Spill Your Guts," teases for Frost, "Charles faces a new challenge when three medical students shadow him for a day. Goodwin faces a high-stakes board meeting. Frost reckons with his past."

The teaser trailer for Chicago Med season 11 episode 12 doesn't give us a glimpse at Frost's storyline, so it's unclear whether Frost will still be facing ghosts from his past life as an actor. He could very well be met with Ian a few short weeks after his old pal was in town for a convention. Perhaps he's back again with another pitch for a revival series of Nick of Time.
However, with Frost's storyline taking more of a romantic turn with Novak, Frost might have to settle any lingering issues that might be holding him back with Ainsley Towne (Jessalyn Gilsig). NBC hasn't confirmed that Gilsig will be back again this season, but it's just one of the top predictions for what Frost could be reckoning with from his past. Of course, their are other options.
We need to finally meet Frost's parents in Chicago Med
Given that Darren Barnet only joined the cast as John Frost in season 10, we're still getting to know the young pediatric doctor in season 11. Being so, we haven't met any members of his family yet, and from what little information he's shared about his family, there's not a whole lot of positive feelings there, especially with his parents. Perhaps it's finally time to meet one of Frost's parents.
As informative as digging into Frost's first career as a child actor has been, with all of the emotional baggage he still carries from that time of his life, it's been the only aspect of his past we have been privy to. Again, it's interesting, but it's time for Chicago Med to continue shading in the blurred edge's of who Frost is and welcome some other figures that helped shape who he is, for better or worse.
No matter who Frost is forced to confront in Chicago Med season 11 episode 12 as he continues to forge ahead and build a new life for himself, the storyline will be gripping and movie. But let's hope that this time around, we'll meet someone from a different part of Frost's life and not just his TV family. We need to meet Frost's real family to keep understanding the depths of his character.
