Chicago Med fans are in store for another eventful episode of season 11 on March 18, with an episode that is going to see the return of several key guest characters as part of the episode’s key storylines.

Of the main Chicago Med cast, it seems we’re going to see Dean, Charles, Hannah, and Frost at the center of the episode’s biggest storylines, though the synopsis for the episode only provides information about half of this group:

“Archer confronts his own mortality while on a case; One patient's quirk baffles Charles and Theo.”

Dean struggling with his mortality is likely to be connected to the return of Esme and Jeremy, who have been dealt a difficult hand as they become first-time parents. When we first met the couple, they were thrilled to become first-time parents with big dreams for raising their child together. Sadly, Jeremy would come to learn he had late-stage cancer and only had months to live. This shifted his priorities with his goal simply being to make it to the birth of his child so that he could meet their baby before his death.

With Archer now expecting a child with Hannah when he’s much later in his life than when his son was born, it’s likely Esme and Jeremy’s case will have Dean questioning his own mortality. As for the other stories of the week, the photos and promos for the episode provide further context on what’s to come!

The Cost of Living episode photos

A good number of photos from Chicago Med season 11, episode 15 tease the returns of Esme and Jeremy. We see the pair coming into Gaffney, where they’re greeted by Dean and Hannah, while another photo shows Hannah speaking with Esme, who is in a hospital bed, indicating that she’ll be giving birth in the episode – which is alluded to in the promo as well.

We also get to see that Kingston is back this week, and it seems she’ll be once again working with Dean to treat Jeremy, who is also admitted to the hospital, as a moment in the promo shows him in a hospital bed wearing a hospital gown. The released image (below) seems to hint that Dean and Kingston might not see eye-to-eye on a medical decision given their intense looks.

Elsewhere in the photos, we get a few glimpses of Theo’s return to work with Charles on a new medical case of the week. The pair will eventually end up in Goodwin’s office as revealed via one still, as another shows Charles and Goodwin sharing a conversation together, likely in a moment coming towards the end of the episode after Charles and Theo have a breakthrough in the case.

Chicago Med season 11, episode 15 promo - The Cost of Living

The promo for this week’s Chicago Med offers up information about some of the side stories that will play out that might otherwise be overlooked via the photos and synopsis for the episode.

Of course, we see shots of Esme and Jeremy in the promo as it’s teased that their baby arrives and it’s also hinted that the baby is not breathing right after birth with Hannah having to race into action. Given all the couple has been through, we can’t imagine they’ll lose the baby, and we have confidence that Hannah will be able to save the baby but the trailer certainly does a good job of making fans anxious.

Also in the promo, we get a glimpse of a woman being brought in with an acupuncture injury. There is nothing mentioned about this case, but perhaps this could end up being the patient whose quirk leaves Theo and Charles baffled.

Finally, we see that Frost will have a key storyline this episode. After returning from the road trip with his parents, Frost’s dad is brought into the ED, and it seems Frost’s parents are keeping secrets from him. “Don’t lie to me, don’t lie to me!” a frustrated and emotional Frost shouts before a later scene shows his father falling to the ground after getting out of his hospital bed.

Don't miss a new episode of Chicago Med on Wednesday, March 18, at 8/7c on NBC.
