Watching new episodes of Chicago Med each week is exciting for the obvious reasons. We love to catch up with the ongoing storylines of our favorite Gaffney emergency department doctors. In season 12 episode 3, Goodwin will be taking on a new role at the hospital while the unlikely duo of Ripley and Asher are reuniting to work together with a patient. These are the stories we love.
But diving into the latest episodes is doubly exciting because of the weekly guest casts that pop in for appearances in the latest cases of the week. Sometimes we don't recognize the guest stars, sometimes we definitely do, and other times we know we've seen them but can't really place them. But that's where we come in to share all the details on the latest guest cast.
Chicago Med season 12 episode 3 features plenty of familiar faces most viewers will recognize. Hot on the heels of the Glee reboot news, an Emmy Award-nominated star from the musical dramedy drops by Gaffney along with others from hit series like 13 Reasons Why, Manifest, and more. Below we're running through the latest guest stars and where we've seen them before!
Glee star Dot-Marie Jones guest stars in Chicago Med season 12 episode 3
The most recognizable guest star featured in Chicago Med season 12 episode 3 is most definitely Glee star Dot-Marie Jones. Based on the above photo from the episode, Jones plays Gail Gerhig, a patient treated by Dr. Wu. Jones is best known for her role as Coach Beiste in Glee, though she's appeared in other shows like Lizzie McGuire, Nip/Tuck, Venice: The Series, The Resident, and more.
13 Reasons Why star Tyler Barnhardt also appears in the episode as Matthew Kaufman. Barnhardt starred in the Netflix teen drama as Charlie St. George for 23 episodes, but he also appeared in television series like The Sex Lives of College Girls, All Rise, and Bel-Air. He starred in 12 episodes of the Peacock drama series as Connor Satterfield across its run.
Another familiar face you will probably recognize in the episode is Meredith Salenger as Joanne Bly. Throughout her career, Salenger has popped up in multiple hit television series like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dawson's Creek, Cold Case, Grey's Anatomy, Damages, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and many more. In real life, she has been married to actor and comedian Patton Oswalt since 2017.
Manifest fans who are also religious viewers of Chicago Med will recognize Clem Cheung in season 12 episode 3 as Lam Ka Fai. The actor appeared in five episodes of the NBC/Netflix supernatural drama series as Henry Kim, and he's also been seen in Tires, The Diplomat, Power Book III: Raising Kanaan, 3 Body Problem, Luke Cage, and lots more high-profile show.
Ahead of the episode's premiere, the Rotten Tomatoes listing clued us in on the unexpected return of Abrial Bonilla as medical student Lina Martinez, who first made her debut working with Dr. Lenox in season 11 episode 7. She appeared again in season 11 episode 19, and she's apparently back at Gaffney for another drop-in that we weren't expecting.
Beyond the highlighted guest stars, season 12 episode 3 also features Courtney Latrice as Officer Judy Cobb, Olivia Daponde as Harper Doherty, Katie Kuang as Charmaine, Joe Krowka as Mr. Yeager, Ocean Monzon-Sanders as Alex Bly, and Emilie Rose Danno as Lila among other recurring and background characters.
