Dr. Dean Archer has been Chicago Med's resident grump since season 6. The character doesn't often flash a smile, and prefers making withering remarks to his co-workers than connecting with them on a casual or friendly manner (for the most part).
Steven Weber, the actor who plays Archer, is a bit lighter, however. Weber has become a fan favorite presence on Chicago Med, and part of the reason why is the hilarious behind the scenes footage he shares on social media. The actor took to Threads on December 14 to give fans a glimpse of the One Chicago crossover. Well, sort of.
Weber hype ups One Chicago crossover to a dummy
Weber decided to showcase some of the dummies that have been made to resemble human bodies during the upcoming three-part event. "How about that One Chicago crossover that's gonna be happening in January," he asked, before panning to one of the aforementioned dummies.
The video plays out with Weber trying to elicit excitement from the dummy by talking about the crossover and the possibilities of seeing all three One Chicago casts intermingle, but he gets more and more frustrated with the lack of response. "Where's the enthusiasm?," he tensely asked. "It's One Chicago!"
The Threads video comes to a hilarious end when Weber proceeds to slap the head of the dummy out of frustration. The actor may have been riffing on the lack of excitement he was getting, but the general consensus among living, breathing fans is that the crossover cannot come fast enough.
The crossover may put Med characters at risk
Billed as a three-hour "action movie" by executive producer Anastasia Puglisi, the One Chicago crossover event will see all three casts join forces to remedy a disaster in a Windy City high rise. NBC's synopsis for the episode reveals that an explosion occurs high up in the building, and the subsequent fallout requires the efforts of doctors, firefighters and police officers.
"It’s the calamity beneath the surface, however, that sends our heroes on a race to save 40 people trapped deep underground," the synopsis added. "Including two of their own." Of course, NBC and One Chicago cast members are going to make sure that the identity of the "two" in question remain under wraps until the crossover airs on January 29.
There was some concern that Archer would be leaving Chicago Med during the fall finale, but it's very clear that the character will be front-and-center in terms of crossover chaos.
