When news hit that Hannah Asher’s father would be making an appearance in season 11, episode 9, fans knew that it wouldn’t be a picture-perfect moment. On the contrary, tension runs high from the moment Dean runs into him and gets into an argument with him without knowing he is Hannah’s father.
The tension spikes when the three meet up for lunch, and Mark voices his concerns for this set up Hannah and Asher have created. His lack of trust in Hannah drives father and daughter further away. Watching what happened between the two, Dean approaches Mark, throwing all chances of approval out the window. Instead of trying to get on his good side, Dean calls out Mark for his behavior, reminding him Hannah is a great woman and will be a great mom. Once again, Dean proves that he is always going to be on Hannah’s side, no matter who he has to fight.

It is obvious in the way Dean looks at Hannah, how he behaves around her, and how far he is willing to go to protect her. While fans are ecstatic to finally hear those words, Hannah might not feel the same way. It seems this revelation has thrown her off course, and she is now looking at every excuse possible to remind Dean that they are just two friends embarking on a co-parenting journey.
The perfect moment presents itself to her when in season 11, episode 10 Dr. Kingston asks Dean out on a date. While Dean is quick to say no to respect Hanna’s “condition,” she encourages him to say yes. In the end, fans watch Dean walk out of the hospital with Kingston on their way to the jazz club.
The Dasher roller coaster has taken fans for a loop. Jumping from Dean’s in love confirmation to Hannah pushing him toward the arms of another woman. It seems the more Dean tries to be there for her, the further she pushes him away. While the update Hannah’s dad brings is great news, we wonder if the new development with Kingston will delay the progress of this ship.
