The season 13 premiere of Chicago PD is almost here and with that, new information about a new character is also out! In addition to joining the Intelligence Unit, which had been disbanded, she will arrive to shake things up for Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe).
After the season 12 finale saw a character death and the unit being disbanded, season 13 will kick off a month after the events that occurred. Not only will Voight be dealing with the consequences of everything that happened, he will also end up meeting a new officer who is able to go toe to toe with him.
Actress Arienne Mandi will join the series as Officer Eva Imani, who is described as the type to prefer working by herself and will have to get used to being part of a team. She will meet Voight in the first episode, where she is on a case for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
Their paths will cross as they are both looking for the same individual who is trafficking guns. Imani is working undercover when she crosses paths with Voight, and they will have to work together.
How will Officer Eva Imani and Voight work together in Season 13 of Chicago PD?
Showrunner Gwen Sigan told Entertainment Weekly that Imani can hold her own against Voight and knows what she is doing when it comes to the job. “She’s not this green, brand-new cop. She’s been around and it’s able to be very honest with Voight right off the bat.”
It sounds like Voight will have a new partner, like it or not, while also trying to figure out how to get the Intelligence Unit back together.
Mandi described her character as having similarities to Voight, such as their intense drive when it comes to solving crimes. Plus just like Voight, she is no stranger to bending the rules in order to obtain justice for victims.
“They’re very devoted to the people, but they don’t mind kind of cutting corners to get there,” she informed NBC Insider.
Laroyce Hawkins, who plays Officer Kevin Atwater, also told NBC Insider Mandi “fits right in with the pace and with the energy that we like to bring to set.”
Season 13 of Chicago PD will follow the rest of the One Chicago shows when it premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 10/9c. Previous episodes are also available to stream on Peacock.
