FBI season 8, episode 3 introduced Scola’s new partner, Agent Eva Ramos (Juliana Aidén Martinez), just as the team was brought on the case of a young man named Darren Fraley, who was savagely beaten to death.

Beforehand, Scola got to know Ramos through Jubal, who ran down her experience as a former prosecutor and working for the violent crimes and narcotics division. Despite getting off on the wrong foot at first, Ramos and Scola dove into their first case together.

They had to find the killer of a man named Darren Fraley, who was seen on surveillance meeting with someone who then attacked him before taking him to where he would be killed. Once they located the suspected vehicle, Scola was surprised to realize he recognized the driver.

Scola had a big task ahead of him on FBI as a case made him question a former colleague

Bobby Galloway works with the DEA and has been undercover for 14 months with the Lost Sons, an outlaw motorcycle gang. The FBI believes he may have switched sides, but Scola, having worked with him, is reluctant to believe this is true.

Scola and Ramos do end up talking to Galloway’s wife, who tells them Bobby had left a bag in their garage. This same bag is what Darren was killed over, since it had been taken and someone thought he was hiding its whereabouts.

The team brings Galloway in, who denies killing Darren, but tells them that the new gang President, Rick Vogel, has been more brutal. He was also recently released from prison, but seemed to order the beating of Darren to be even more violent.

Bobby goes back undercover, trying to gain favor with Rick. He’s informed that there’s a bigger plan and takes Bobby to the roof of a building overlooking an event that is being held. The family of the prosecutor who put him in prison is at a site where a relative is planning to break ground on new construction, and Rick has a bomb in a van ready to explode.

Ramos and Scola are unable to get onto the roof since Rick locked it. While Scola retrieves an axe to break the door, on the ground, OA works to disable the bomb. By the time Scola and Ramos make it through the door, Rick is dead, with Bobby claiming Rick went for the gun.

However, the security camera from the roof shows Bobby killing Rick with no action from the latter. Scola listens as Bobby later admits to having killed Darren to show loyalty to Rick. Despite their past, Scola is willing to do the right thing and wear a wire to turn him in.

Scola's actions help Ramos open up to him

This action leads Ramos to open up to Scola, a move she makes because he showed integrity in not hiding what Bobby did. She tells Scola that the reason she requested a transfer was that she had been romantically involved with her previous partner, who turned out to be part of Forefront.

Forefront is the group from the season 7 finale that was working against the FBI. Having seen the team take them down and losing trust due to her partner’s actions, Ramos wanted to work with the team that managed to work together to make sure the group was punished. She said the team was the conscience of the FBI, and it’s clear Scola’s actions and integrity made her feel comfortable in the choice she made.

With renewed respect for each other at the end of the episode, we’re looking forward to seeing how Ramos not only works with him, but also with Maggie and OA once we see her with the rest of the team. Plus, how will everyone else react if her past with a Forefront member comes to light?

In addition to the case, Alana de La Garza returned as Isobel Castillo, who was offered the position of Director in Charge of the FBI. However, she learns that no one seems to want Jubal to take her spot. While she doesn’t say much about the possible decision, things are a bit tense when Jubal admits he might not mind taking the job if she chooses to move up.

Will there be tension between the two colleagues once Jubal finds out the higher-ups may not see him as worthy of SAC? So far, Season 8 has a lot to look forward to with everyone in the FBI, and we’re excited to keep watching.
