There is some good news for NCIS fans regarding Mark Harmon! He will make his second cameo appearance on NCIS: Origins, giving fans a peek into how he is doing after his move to Alaska.

It was announced previously that NCIS: Origins would have its first crossover with NCIS, with a cold case spanning years being reopened by the current team in Washington, D.C. Set to air on Veterans Day, the younger Gibbs will investigate the case of a naval officer from a small town, whose death seemingly goes cold.

Since the crossover begins in the past, NCIS: Origins will air first during the 8/7c time slot while NCIS will follow as the present-day team, led by Alden Parker, reopens it. This will also mark the first time we see Harmon onscreen since the premiere of NCIS: Origins.

What has been teased about Mark Harmon's appearance on NCIS: Origins?

In speaking about the appearance, co-showrunners David J. North and Gina Lucita Monreal said “We know how much fans have missed seeing Mark and have wondered what Gibbs is up to today.”

While they did not reveal what will happen that will bring us back to present day Gibbs, they did reveal that despite being in solitude, he is “no longer alone.” What does this mean exactly?

Did Cecilia “Lala” Dominguez come back into his life, which could be the reason Gibbs begins telling her story? This would be an interesting way to see what happens to her in the future, without giving away why she and Gibbs seemed to lose touch in the past.

Lala has been dealing with a lot personally after surviving a traumatic brain injury. Fans have long wondered what happened to her and how her absence in Gibbs’s life impacted him later on down the line. However, it could also be he is telling the story to someone else. Maybe this will be an older Randy, joining Gibbs as they stroll down memory lane.

However, the episodes play out, we are excited to find out what Gibbs is up to since he left NCIS four years ago. Even though it will likely be a quick appearance that does not reveal too much, seeing the older Gibbs will be a treat for longtime fans of the series.

The crossover episodes will air on Tuesday, Nov. 11 on CBS. In the meantime, you can check out previous episodes on Paramount+.
