One Chicago fans aren’t the only ones getting some disappointing news from NBC, it seems. Just one week after NBC sent the One Chicago shows on break, NBC is about to do the same with its Law & Order franchise.
On November 20, NBC will be airing the final new episodes of 2025 of both Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU. The good news is that for Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU, these are simply the fall finales and the two shows will return in January with new episodes. The bad news is that we’re going to have to go the rest of 2025 without new episodes of the Law & Order shows on Thursday nights.
November 20 marks more than just the fall finales for Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU, though. It also marks the final three-hour Law & Order franchise block for the 2025-26 TV season. While both Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU will be back with new episodes in the new year, November 20 will mark the final night that Law & Order: Organized Crime will air alongside its sister series.
This Thursday, NBC will air the season 5 finale of Law & Order: Organized Crime, bringing its run on NBC for the season to a close. When Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU return in January, they’ll be joined by the second season of The Hunting Party, which will be closing out the night on Thursdays starting on January 8, 2026.

What to expect from the Law & Order fall finales
Before the Law & Order shows sign off with their final episodes of 2025, we do have one final batch of episodes coming our way and each episode will feature some compelling cases.
Up first in the Law & Order fall finale, “Parasite,” Riley and Walker will investigate the murder of a wealthy CEO killed the night before his wedding. As the duo works the case, they quickly come to the conclusion that it was the victim’s will that served as the motive for the murder. This is an argument Price and Maroun will lead with in the courtroom, but expect the pair to struggle with determining the pros and cons of harming the prime suspect’s reputation when taking the case to trial.
In the Law & Order: SVU fall finale, Bruno will lead the investigation into the kidnapping of a man’s girlfriend in a case full of holes Bruno looks to fill. It also seems two members of the team will come under fire, with Griffin forced to defend his police work on the stand and Tynan coming down hard on Benson following a disagreement between the pair.
The night will then conclude with the season 5 finale of Law & Order: Organized Crime as Stabler goes rogue in hopes of finding Emery.
