Attention NCIS fans! CBS has officially announced the premiere dates of its primetime shows, including NCIS. Season 23 is sure to be filled with plenty of new cases and personal arcs for the characters and we’re excited to see where things continue to go for the agents. However, we do need to wait a little later in the fall 2025 season to watch the premiere of season 23.

CBS has moved NCIS to Tuesday nights with new episodes starting on October 14 with the season 23 premiere. The move to Tuesdays is due to the FBI franchise losing two of its shows and CBS needing to fill those timeslots. This means that NCIS will take over the 8/7c time block that was previously taken by FBI, which is now moving to Mondays.

Season 23 of NCIS will likely continue the main arc involving Agent Alden Parker (Gary Cole), whose father was killed by his long-time nemesis, Carla Marino. In addition to Parker going after Marino, as we’re sure he plans to do, there is still the mystery of the little girl named Lily and what happened regarding his mother’s death.

In the season 22 finale, M.E. Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen) told Agent Jessica Knight (Katrina Law) that there was a discrepancy in the death certificate involving Parker’s mother. We may get to see some more information come to light about his mom and her death, especially if it leads to Parker finding out more about the little girl. Lily had been a witness to his mom’s accident, but so far, Parker doesn’t know how else she is involved. Season 23 may continue to pick up this thread.

Plus, we're also still curious to see how Jimmy and Jessica continue working together since they broke up. While we don't know if there are plans to get them back together, there's always a chance season 23 could show us definitively if they will make that move in the near future.

We’re also curious if season 23 will see Tim McGee (Sean Murray) get a chance to thrive. Now that Gabriel LaRoche is no longer the Deputy Director, could Tim get a second chance at a promotion? Seeing him move up at NCIS would be great for fans, even if it did take him away from the team, even if it was temporary.

There are plenty of different ways the season could go and we’re looking forward to seeing how the story arcs for the characters continue.

NCIS season 23 premieres Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 8.7c on CBS. Until the show’s return in October, you can catch up with the previous seasons on Paramount+.
