For most Chicago Med fans, the show has a lot of competition for who they would call their favorite character. Even though some storylines have resulted in viewers feeling let down by specific characters, the reason why it can be hard for viewers to decide who they like the most is the fact that there is an embarrassment of riches.
In addition to obviously great characters like Dr. Daniel Charles, Sharon Goodwin, Dr. Hannah Asher, and Dr. Dean Archer, there are other fantastic Chicago Med characters who fly under the radar. I would argue that Dr. Dylan Scott was an underrated character who left the show too early. Similarly, there is another underrated character from the medical drama, who has been there since the show began, who really should get more credit from viewers and the series' writers alike.

Chicago Med lawyer Peter Kalmick deserves more love and storylines
Now that Chicago Med is in the middle of airing its eleventh season, there are only two actors who have starred in the show from the very start. S. Epatha Merkerson and Oliver Platt have portrayed Sharon Goodwin and Dr. Daniel Charles, respectively. While that is common knowledge among Chicago Med viewers, it is much easier for fans not to realize that the actor Marc Grapey has portrayed the show's lawyer, Peter Kalmick, since the very first episode.
Since Peter popped up during the first Chicago Med episode, the character has played a pivotal role in a slew of other episodes and storylines. Despite that, the importance of Peter seems to largely be underappreciated.
If fans reflect on the importance of Peter's character, they will recognize that he has played a pivotal role in many of the show's most memorable storylines. Whether it has been clarifying legal issues or operating as a go-between for Sharon and the board, Peter manages to be likable while being the bad cop, and fans really should appreciate that more.
Another group of people who should appreciate the character and the actor who brings him to life more is Chicago Med's writers. After all, the character manages to deliver lots of exposition that helps keep the show moving in a compelling way that feels realistic.
The actor who plays Peter should be celebrated for that more. Given all the character and actor have accomplished, I think it is past time for the show's writers to make him the focus of his own storyline. While I don't think Peter necessarily needs to become part of the main cast, they could at least give him that opportunity.
