9-1-1 is making a few changes in season 8. It's already been confirmed that there will be a new chief in the form of Gerrard (Brian Thompson), but it looks like Eddie Diaz (Ryan Guzman) will also be trying out some new moves. Or should we say, new looks.

9-1-1 has already started production on the upcoming season, and the show decided to shock fans by posting a behind-the-scenes video of Guzman sporting a mustache! The clean-shaven actor has decided to go full Magnum, P.I., which raises some interesting questions about Diaz heading into the new season.

Ryan Guzman will sport a mustache in season 8

Is he going undercover? Did he merely want to change up his look? Is the rest of the 9-1-1 team going to make jokes about his very stereotypical cop 'stache? The tone of the behind the scenes video is very much on the silly side, with Guzman and co-star Peter Krause goofing around in a scar.

Krause, who plays Bobby Nash, can be seen attempting to poke Guzman's mustache, while the latter pretends to lash out and bite Krause's hand. "Careful," the Instagram caption reads. "He bites." The vid was posted by another 9-1-1 star, Kenneth Choi, on July 26th.

Eddie Diaz will undergo some major personal changes

The change to Eddie Diaz's appearance makes sense, given that the character will be undergoing some internal changes in season 8. Guzman talked about said changes during a May interview with IndieWire. He hopes to see Diaz mature a bit, and learn to prioritize his role as a father in the absence of his son, Christopher (Gavin McHugh).

"My hope is that Eddie has a good portion of time without Christopher," Ryan Guzman told the outlet. "Which would allow him the opportunity to find new structure, maybe rework who he is a little bit and find new textures of life for him."

We're looking forward to the inevitable reunion between father and son, and frankly, we're curious to see what Christopher thinks of his dad's new look.
