911 isn't new tonight (and it's going to be a bit before season 7 resumes)

911 will begin its first break since returning for season 7 tonight, April 18. Here's when you can expect the 118 to return to action on ABC!

If you’re hoping to end your Thursday by settling in on the couch to enjoy a new episode of 911, I’m afraid I get to be the bearer of bad news. That’s right, there is, unfortunately, no new episode of ABC’s hit drama coming our way this Thursday night.

For the first time since their return in March, ABC’s Thursday night trio of 911, Grey’s Anatomy, and Station 19 will be taking some time off with the plan being to air encore episodes rather than original episodes from the show’s current seasons. Honestly, we knew a break in the season was likely coming our way soon given the shows had been airing without interruption since their premieres. We just didn’t know when that break would be coming, nor did we expect the break to be a multi-week break rather than the shows simply taking one week off.  

911 season 7 resumes on May 2 with Maddie and Chimney’s wedding

The good news is that we do know when 911 and ABC’s Thursday dramas will return. The promos for the next episodes revealed that season 7 will resume on May 2 with what promises to be quite an eventful episode – one which seems to be drawing inspiration from The Hangover. 

As episode five came to a close, Maddie and Chimney’s wedding day arrived but there was only one problem: The groom was missing! The episode ended with Buck and Eddie showing up at the wedding venue looking more than a little hungover and roughed up, revealing they had no idea where Chimney was. That’s right, we’re going to get a Hangover-esque episode in which a bachelor party goes wrong with the groomsmen losing the groom and trying to piece together the events of the previous night to figure out what has happened. 

The official synopsis for the episode teases that Maddie and Chimney’s wedding day finally arrives but the 118 must race against time to ensure Chimney doesn’t miss his big day, hinting that perhaps he’s in more danger than even the promo hinted at! 

It seems only fitting that the show throws a wrench in the couple’s special day as their journey down the aisle has been a complicated one. However; we have a good feeling I Do’s will be exchanged before the episode ends!
