It's sad knowing that Blue Bloods is wrapping up after 14 seasons, but it has been nice to see that the writers and producers are taking advantage of this knowledge and are setting up a send-off that will satisfy longtime viewers.

Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg have been talking up the final season at length (and admitting that they'd prefer the show go on), but the biggest season 14 bombshell to drop thus far came from TV Line: Jackie Curatola, the original partner of Wahlberg's Danny Reagan, is coming back!

Curatola, who is played by Jennifer Esposito, was a main cast member during the first three seasons of Blue Bloods, but she was written off the show due to Esposito's health complications. The decision was met with criticism from Esposito, which led many fans to assume that she would never get the chance to return.

But, as they say, time heals all. The character was brought up for the season 13 finale, and her long absence was explained away as a career change. It was great to see her again, and it served as a reminder just how good Curatola and Reagan were as a duo.

It seemed as though Curatola's season 13 cameo would have been the end of her arc, but TV Line recently confirmed that she will be appearing in the second episode of season 14, titled "Dropping Bombs." The synopsis for the episode reads as follows:

"Danny and Baez join forces with Danny’s old partner, Jackie, when a serial killer reappears."

"Dropping Bombs" will air on February 23, 2024.

Curatola briefly appeared in season 13

It's been nice to see Esposito and the Blue Bloods team reconcile, especially given how important she was to the show's during its early seasons. She posted photos alongside Donne Wahlberg with the caption "some things never change" right after the season 13 finale aired.

She also received an outpouring of support from Blue Bloods fans who were excited to see her back in action as Curatola. In response, she tweeted the message:

"A huge thank you to all the Blue Bloods fans for all the love. You all rock. Xoox"

All's well that ends well! Hopefully bad nothing happens to Curatola in her final appearance...
