Chicago Fire introduced a stalker who nearly killed a PD character

This is not the crossover event we expected between these shows!

Chicago Fire is no stranger to stalkers. In order to find the last example of a firefighter having to contend with an obsessed civilian, we only have to go back to season 11, when Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) nearly had her apartment broken into (thanks again, Carver). We've seen it before, but we have to admit that we've never seen it happen with Mouch (Christian Stolte).

Mouch (Christian Stolte) has been on a rebrand throughout season 12, as he's gotten into shape and attempted to be more active than ever before. Well, it seems he did too good of a job, as the episode "Something About Her" saw him cross paths with a woman who developed quite the crush on him.

Mouch was helping the woman go through the special medic program established by Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer), and it was easy to determine that this woman was not the most stable. She repeatedly dropped by the firehouse to say hi to Mouch, and even slept in his bunk when he was out on a call.

The real clincher for cuckoo status came when the woman showed up at Mouch's home with the intention of killing Mouch's wife aka Chicago PD's Trudy Platt (Amy Morton)! Trudy, always the fast thinker, had the woman arrested for attempted murder on the spot. Evidently, the woman had a past stalking experience in which she tried to kill the wife of a different man and was sent to a psychiatric hospital.

Needless to say, the punishment is going to be a little bit more severe this time around. One doesn't threaten a veteran police officer with murder without facing some serious consequences. It may not have been the central focus of the episode "Something About Her", but this subplot gave fans the first One Chicago crossover in several weeks.

The limitations of the Hollywood strikes have made it difficult for the showrunners to line up bigger crossovers between Med, Fire and PD, but it's nice to see smaller cameos from different characters, as it helps to sell the notion that they are all interconnected at all times. We're eagerly anticipating a full-on crossover, but we'll happily take this in the meantime.
