Chicago Med star confirms new characters will be introduced in season 10

Chicago Med characters have been dropping like flies in recent seasons. Fans have watched as veteran physicians and newcomers alike have decided to leave Gaffney Medical Center behind, which means the show is in a bit of a transitional phase.

The departures will continue into the upcoming season 10. Dr. Crockett Marcel (Dominic Rains) will be saying his goodbyes to the rest of the staff, if he even comes back at all. Naturally, these departures are going to need new characters to fill them, and this is something star Jessy Schram confirmed during a recent interview with TV Insider.

Hannah Asher is excited for new cast additions

Schram confirmed that Chicago Med will be bringing in a host of newcomers for the show's landmark tenth season. The actress sees it as a positive, however. In her estimation, new characters means new energy for the established characters to experience:

" There will be some new characters coming in, and of course that stirs up many different characters for different reasons. But there’ll be some new energy."

Schram also noted that the energy the new batch of characters will bring will be distinct from what Chicago Med fans have seen in the past. "It’ll be different from what we’ve seen in the past for sure," she promised.

Schram promises Med will retain its core appeal

Don't worry, though. There will still be plenty of Chicago Med dysfunction that fans have come to know and love. Asher admitted that her character, Dr. Hannah Asher, is pretty taken aback by what happened with Dr. Mitch Ripley (Luke Mitchell) in the season 9 finale, and will spend the first few episodes of the season trying to make sense of it all.

"The family aspect will be there," the actress asserted. "They all love each other, but it’s very dysfunctional. So we’ll be playing a lot on the dysfunction of the family, I guess you could say."
