Donnie Wahlberg gets emotional during final day on Blue Bloods set
Blue Bloods is slowly ticking off markers before the end. The show aired the first half of its final season, and now, thanks to the confirmation of star Donnie Wahlberg, the show has wrapped its production for good.
Wahlberg, who plays Danny Reagan, commemorated the event on Instagram with a video and a lengthy, emotionally charged caption. It was obvious that Blue Bloods meant, and still does, mean a lot to its entire cast.
Donnie Wahlberg praised the NYPD for their assistance
The actor acknowledged how fortunate he's been to have such a beloved show. “Last day of Blue Bloods," he penned. "Not sure I have the words to describe how I feel about today, or the last 14 years on this special Blue Bloods journey, but I do know how incredibly thankful I am for every moment of it."
Wahlberg thanked the NYPD and the city of New York for helping to make the show as authentic as possible. He also praised the police officers and firefighters he's met over the year for their continued sacrifices in the field. "To the NYPD, thank you for your support and sacrifice," he added. "I hope we did you proud."

If there's one thing about Donnie Wahlberg that's been consistent over the last decade and a half, though, it's his adoration of the Blue Bloods fanbase. He has been a champion of the show since day one, and really helped to cultivate a fanbase that will endure long after the show ends.
Wahlberg thanked fans for their unending support
The actor saved his kindest words for the fans:
"We don’t make it 14 days (nevermind 14 years) without you! Your love and support for this show has been one of the great blessings of my life. Thank you."
Fans who follow Wahlberg's Instagram may have also spotted the set photos the actor posted on his Story. These were an absolute treat, as they featured Wahlberg, Vanessa Ray and Marisa Ramirez hugging after what appears to be their final scene together. "Last day feels," reads the caption over the photo.
It's emotional now, so we can't imagine how emotional it will be when the series finale actually airs.
