Another One Chicago year for the books. The 2023-24 seasons were tricky for the franchise, as they had to contend with production delays and a shortened episode count. Still, they made it work and gave fans some unforgettable moments. They also gave us some unforgettable exits.

We've said this before, but it bears repeating: 2023-24 was a transitional year for One Chicago as a franchise. All three shows: Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago PD, were hit with massive cast changes, and nowhere was this more evident than during the season finales.

There were some characters who left for good, some who partially left, and some who seem primed for an early exit next season. Let's break them all down.

Hailey Upton quit the force on Chicago PD

The big one. There was genuine concern heading into Chicago PD's season 11 finale that Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) was going to get kiled in the line of duty. She got close, too. She was shot in the side during her rescue of Hank Voight (Jason Beghe). Thankfully, she made it out alive and made it clear that she needed to start fresh somewhere else.

The character, who was shown looking up jobs with the FBI, is last shown getting in a taxi and heading to the airport. She looked out the window and gives fans a rare smile, assuring us that she's going to be just fine.

Wallace Boden got promoted on Chicago Fire

Chicago Fire - Season 9

Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) is a complicated case because he got a full-on farewell episode during the season 12 finale of Chicago Fire. The entire firehouse came into his office, gave him a group hug, and thanked him for making them all a "family."

The thing is, Boden is still technically part of the show. He won't be a regular cast member anymore, but his new position as deputy commissioner ensures that he will pop up every once in a while to help out with a serious case. In this regard, it's the best of both worlds.

Chief Robinson lost her campaign on Chicago Fire

Chicago Fire - Season 12

Chief Robinson (Laura Allen) was the one character we're happy to see go in the season 12 finale. She was the antagonist of the entire season, complicating the lives of Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) and Violet (Hanako Greensmith), as well as her competition for the deputy commissioner job, Boden.

Robinson tried to use all the slimy tactics at her disposal to win the election, but in the end, decency won out. Boden got the promotion, and Robinson, barring any shocking returns, is stuck twiddling her thumbs elsewhere.

Dr. Marcel is questioning his career on Chicago Med

Chicago Med - Season 6

Crockett Marcel (Dominic Rains) didn't say anything about leaving Chicago Med during the season 9 finale, but he was so struck by personal news that he may not be able to continue his career when the show returns. He was told that a patient he previously treated, a boy, had died, and his father took his own life out of grief.

This would shake anybody to their core, but Marcel was so affected that he left a surgery and needed to talk things over with Dr. Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson). We're hoping this is merely a hiccup in his long career, but we always want to flag him as a character to keep an eye on if he decides that he's had enough.
