Chicago PD has been in a ramshackle state in season 11, and it's been fun to see the characters attempt to navigate this tricky time period. Multiple officers have been missing in action, but the latest episode, "Safe Harbor", will see the return of one and the addition of a brand new recruit.
Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) will be stepping back into his IU role after a lengthy process in which he recovered from a gunshot wound, and nearly lost his job by using an undercover alias to illegally gamble (long story, played out in season 11, episode 2).
The recruit in question is Danny Alvarado (EJ Bonilla), who about which very little has been said, but he pops up in several of the photos for "Safe Harbor", which leads us to assume that he's brought on to fill in for the still absent Dante Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar).

Kim Burgess navigates a deadly refugee case
Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) played a supporting role in the first two episodes of Chicago PD, so it makes sense that she would be the next character to step forward and lead a storyline of her own.
The official synopsis for "Safe Harbor" reads as follows:
""Burgess works an extra shift at the 13th District and gets caught in the middle of a drive-by attack on refugees; the team works together to track down the shooter and uncover the true motive behind the attack.""
Burgess has had to deal with a lot recently, whether it be the near-death of her partner, Ruzek, the kidnapping of her daughter, Makayla (Ramona Edith Williams) a year ago, or the PTSD caused by her own near-death experience.
It'll be interesting to see how the character, who is now regularly attending therapy, will alter her approach to cases.
