"Inside Man" was a thrilling episode of television. One of the best Chicago Fire episodes to come from season 12 thus far, as it gave Severide (Taylor Kinney) to flex his skills as a medic, firefighter, and kind of an action hero. Unfortunately, there was collateral damage in the episode: Truck 81.

The episode kicked off with criminals hijacking Truck 81 without realizing Severide was working on it. They not only attempted grand theft auto, but kidnapping as well. It gets worse. Severide discovers the criminals are using Truck 81 to transport explosives (!) and when they realize that he's onboard, they handcuff him to the wheel and force the firefighter to drive.

Thanks to some quick-thinking, Severide manages to get a message to Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and the rest of Firehouse 51. They suit up to rescue him, but it does not go down as easily as they hoped. When Severide realized what was at risk, he decided to take matters into his own hands and light a fire in the driver's seat.

The panic of the criminals, coupled with the risk of instant death (they are, after all, transporting explosives) led to them ordering Severide to pull over. He did, and everyone exited Truck 81 before it went in flames. The end of an era. Truck 81 has been present for over a decade, but due to some harebrained scheme, it is no more.

Severide made it out alive, and the criminals were sprayed down with a firehouse and promptly arrested. A happy ending, with the exception of poor Truck 81. The synopsis for the season 12 finale, confirms that 51 will have to get used to a new rig.

Mouch will struggle to adjust to the new truck

The finale will be titled "Never Say Goodbye," and the synopsis reads:

"Boden makes a decision that impacts the race for Deputy Commissioner. A tense call brings up painful memories for Carver and Damon. Mouch struggles to adjust to the new Truck."

Mouch (Christian Stolte) has gone out of his way to up his firefighting game in season 12, so it's going to be especially tough for him to feel out of sorts with a new truck. We hope it'll make for some funny moments on the job and not tragic ones.

Here's when Mouch is returning to Fire. dark. Next. S
