In the lead-up to Chicago Med's season 11 premiere, several hints about the upcoming season of the medical drama have been revealed. Even though the storyline was at the center of the previous season's cliffhanger ending, it has been teased that Dr. Hannah Asher may not have her baby. The show's boss has also revealed that several important characters will be returning as a part of Sharon Goodwin's journey.
Unfortunately, the truth is that even shows that have fantastic individual storylines can often let viewers down, generally speaking. In fact, there is a long history of terrible shows having fantastic scenes or storylines. As a result, it is great that there is something bigger than each of Chicago Med's plot lines that has me feeling extremely excited about the series' eleventh season.

I think Chicago Med season 11 is going to be fantastic
As someone who has seen every episode of Chicago Med that has ever aired, I can attest to how great the show has always had the ability to be. During the first nine seasons of the medical drama, there were a lot of characters and storylines that I really enjoyed. However, I have to admit that by the time the show's ninth season was ending, I felt largely checked out on the series. I always think of the storylines involving O.R. 2.0 as a perfect encapsulation of how I felt the show had lost its footing. While other fans may have loved that idea, I felt like everything about O.R. 2.0 reflected how the show had gotten away from the core of what made it great.
When I learned that Chicago Med season 10 would have a new showrunner, Allen MacDonald, I had little hope that the series was going to win me over again. While I mean no disrespect to anyone else who has previously been in charge of Chicago Med, I have come to believe that Allen taking the reins was a genius move that rekindled my love for the show. There are several reasons why the show's tenth season made me love it again.
After Chicago Med had previously introduced several new characters I didn't care about at all, Dr. Caitlin Lenox and Dr. John Frost were both fantastic additions in my opinion. I can't say enough about how expertly I think the show brought back Robin Charles, Anna Charles, and Sarah Reese. After giving it a lot of consideration, I believe that season 10, episode 17, "The Book of Archer," which focused on Dean Archer learning of his ex-wife's death, is the best Chicago Med episode ever.
Amazingly enough, that is just a small sample of what I loved about Chicago Med season 10 under Allen's leadership. Now, the show is set to return with Allen continuing to be in charge. Considering how much I loved what he did with the show the first time around, I can't wait to see how he handles season 11. More importantly, I have faith that under Allen's leadership, season 11 will be spectacular.
Chicago Medseason 11 premieres Wednesday, October 1 at 8/7c on NBC.
