As One Chicago prepares for its first crossover event in five years, nearly a dozen characters make their debut in it!

As One Chicago preps for its first crossover in five years, several characters are going to be making their first crossover appearances!

One Chicago has always rested on the great connections between Med, Fire, and PD.  We've seen it with the Halstead brothers, relationships between characters on different shows (like Fire's Mouch married to PD's Trudy) and characters will pop in other shows easily.

It's naturally led to some big crossovers between the three shows. The last one was in 2019, where (in a plot that proved eerily prescient) the three teams came together to handle a deadly virus striking Chicago.

That was the last full-on crossover between the shows as the real-life COVID-19 pandemic cut down on mixing casts together. There's also the issue of balancing three different shows and their casts and finding the proper storyline.

It will finally happen as January 29 will have the three shows unite. The promo shows a massive underground explosion that leaves civilians in danger on a train. That has Fire's Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Chicago PD's Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) trapped with others as the teams race to rescue them.

It's a big deal, and more notable is that, given it's been over five years since the last crossover, several characters from each show will make their first appearance in one! Here's a quick rundown of who's the first to take part!

Chicago Med

We've seen a few departures in the last five years like Will Halstead, Natalie Manning, Ethan Choi, and Crockett Marcel. But a few new faces are coming in. While Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram) was around during the last crossover season, she didn't take part in it, so this is her first time.

Naturally, several cast members who only popped up in the last two seasons will be making their crossover debut. That includes Dean Archer (Steven Weber) and Mitchell Ripley (Luke Mitchell). The pair will be pushed to the limit while Ripley is dealing with the loss of his best friend, which may affect his judgment.

Obviously, since they only debuted this season, both Sarah Ramos (Caitlin Lenox) and John Frost (Darren Barrett) will be taking part for the first time, although it is questionable how much of a role they'll have in the bigger disaster. The rules-bound Ramos may be challenged by this chaos while Frost has to step up to the plate handling things.

Chicago Fire

There are quite a few faces from Chicago Fire missing since 2019: Matt Casy, Wallace Bodin, and Sylvie Brett.

Joining up for their first crossover event will be Darren Ritter (Daniel Kyri), Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith), Jake Lockett (Sam Carver), and Layla Novak (Jocelyn Hudon). All three are going to have to pull their weight to handle this emergency and get a taste of what it's like to work with the other teams handling this disaster.

The big focus is likely going to be on the new chief, Dom Pascal (Dermot Mulroney) as this will be his biggest test yet since taking on leadership of Station 51 and also his first crossover. Talk about a literal trial by fire.

Chicago PD

This show has seen the lowest turnover of the three shows since 2019. The big departures have been Vanessa Rojas, Jay Halstead, and Hailey Upton. Thus, we'll see the crossover debuts of new cops Dante Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar) and KIana Cook (Toya Turner).

This will be a challenge for these two streetwise cops to move into disaster aid. It's also fun to see Ruzek and Kidd's first meetings as they try to survive this ordeal.

Seeing these new characters taking part in this crossover will only add to the thrill that makes this one of the best parts of the One Chicago universe!

The One Chicago crossover begins Wendesday January 29 at 8/7c on NBC.
