Will Sylvie Brett be a hero in the Chicago Fire midseason premiere? Look ahead to Thursday’s episode with our Chicago Fire season 6, episode 7 preview.

Thursday’s Chicago Fire midseason premiere may reveal the fate of Ramon Dawson, but the episode seems equally focused on Sylvie Brett.

Season 6, Episode 7 is called “A Man’s Legacy” and will answer the question that the show left fans with in December—will Ramon (guest star Daniel Zacapa) die after being attacked?

According to the episode’s official description, Ramon’s daughter Gabriela (Monica Raymund) isn’t the one who takes the lead on his treatment.

Instead, it’s her partner Brett (Kara Killmer) who has to make the big decision. And that’s not the only big decision in front of her when Chicago Fire season 6 resumes.

More from One Chicago Center

We’ve already seen photos from the episode that prove Jon Seda will be crossing over from Chicago PD as Antonio Dawson. Even though he’s estranged from Ramon, that’s still his father, so it’s no surprise that Antonio turns up to support his family.

But One Chicago fans also know that Antonio is the ex-boyfriend of Sylvie Brett.

And “A Man’s Legacy” will be the first time that he has appeared on Chicago Fire since the two of them unceremoniously (some would even say randomly) broke up during season 5.

It’s impossible to fathom that there won’t be some discussion of Brettonio, as we call them, during this episode. It would make no sense to put the two of them in scenes again and not broach the big elephant in the room (and on the minds of fans).

While it seems like Brett, and Brettonio, will be a big focus of “A Man’s Legacy” we’re equally interested in how the episode will affect Dawson, and by extension Dawsey. This is her father, and her brother—she ought to be a major part of the episode.

Dawson’s going to be deeply affected by whatever happens to her father, because she’s the one who has tried to support him post-divorce. He was until recently living with her and she’s tried to be there for him, even as he pushed her patience to its limit earlier this season.

So how will she react to potentially losing him, whether or not she actually does? Will she want to get revenge on his attacker, or will she be more focused on just making sure that he recovers and straightens out his life? How will Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) be there for his wife? Will Ramon wind up putting more strain on their marriage, since this is a huge event that will obviously change more lives than his?

Most importantly, how will the midseason premiere set up the next part of Chicago Fire season 6? The first six episodes didn’t feel like they had a compelling through-line; the season still needs to find what drives it. Hopefully “A Man’s Legacy” will shine a light on that, while also telling us how the second cliffhanger of the year ends.
