How did Chicago Fire season 6 and Chicago PD season 5 fare in the ratings this week? Find out in the One Chicago Ratings Report.

Another week in the One Chicago season has gone by, so it’s time for another edition of the One Chicago Ratings Report.

For the second week in a row, only two of three One Chicago shows were on the air, as Chicago Med was pre-empted by NBC‘s coverage of the State of the Union address.

But that doesn’t mean there’s not TV ratings news to talk about this week.

After taking last week off by showing a rerun, Chicago PD returned on Wednesday with “Chasing Monsters” which brought in 6.71 million live viewers.

More from One Chicago Center

That led to an awesome new achievement: Chicago PD was the number one most watched show in all of broadcast TV this Wednesday night!

No One Chicago show had ever reached the top spot this season, so congratulations are definitely in order for everyone over at Chicago PD for putting us on top this week.

The 6.71 mark was up noticeably from the 6.63 million people who tuned into the last new episode two weeks ago.

In the demographic category, “Chasing Monsters” was tied for third place amongst adults 18-49 with a 1.2 share.

But there was bad news for the other new episode this week. On Thursday, Chicago Fire gave back the ratings gains that it earned last week and then some.

The latest episode “Law of the Jungle” drew in 5.61 million viewers. That’s 420,000 less than last week, and even lower than two weeks ago (when it had 5.65 million).

Fire was ranked seventh among all broadcast TV shows on Friday night and tied for twelfth place in the adults 18-49 category.

It should be noted that, as we discussed last week, CBS‘s SWAT returned with new episodes on Thursday and won the 10 p.m. hour. Chicago Fire also had to deal with a new lead-in, as NBC used the 9:30 p.m. slot for the series premiere of new comedy A.P. Bio.

But whatever the reason, the firefighters and paramedics of Firehouse 51 are leaving on a ratings loss after their last episode before the Winter Olympics. We’ll see how they do once the Olympics are over.

The TV ratings will be slow over the next few weeks with One Chicago being taken off the air for the Winter Olympics, but at least we can celebrate with Chicago PD going out on the highest note possible.
