Former Chicago PD star Sophia Bush has booked her first TV role since hanging up Erin Lindsay’s badge: she’ll be guest starring in a new ABC sitcom.

If you’ve missed seeing Sophia Bush on TV this season, good news: she’s coming back onto the small screen, in a totally different project from Chicago PD.

She’ll guest star in the new ABC sitcom Alex, Inc. Bush plays Vanessa Stanhope, a popular radio host who spars with the title character (portrayed by Scrubs‘ Zach Braff).

TV Guide was the first to report her casting. We don’t know when Sophia Bush’s episode of Alex, Inc. will air, but the series premieres in six weeks, on Wednesday, March 28 at 8:30 p.m.

It’s the first time that Bush will have appeared on TV since her final episode of Chicago PD aired last May—so even if she is in that series premiere, it’ll have been almost a year since fans have seen her on the small screen.

Since deciding to leave the role of Erin Lindsay, the actress signed a development deal with 20th Century Fox to make her own TV projects, though nothing specific has come out of it yet.

She’s also spoken quite honestly about her exit from the One Chicago franchise, confirming that it was her choice to quit and that she had told producers about wanting to leave well in advance.

Now Sophia Bush will be playing a role that couldn’t be more different from Erin Lindsay, and though it’s only for one episode, maybe that’s part of the appeal—for her and for fans as well.

She may not be specifically known for comedy, but Sophia Bush is no stranger to it. She co-starred in the short-lived CBS sitcom Partners in 2012 alongside Brandon Routh (now on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow) and David Krumholtz (Numb3rs).

She’s also been seen in several comedy films, such as John Tucker Must Die. So while we may still think of her as a dramatic heroine, she’s been able to make people laugh and now she’ll be going back to that side of the TV spectrum. The news of Sophia Bush’s casting in Alex, Inc. comes as her new film Acts of Violence is now available on streaming, Blu-Ray and DVD. Bush shot the movie—which also stars Bruce Willis, Cole Hauser and Mike Epps—while still working on Chicago PD, but it wasn’t released until this year. You can find it here.
