What happened this week in One Chicago history? Here are the moments from Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med past in the week of Feb. 12-18.
While we enjoy the current week in One Chicago, we’re also looking back into what happened this week in One Chicago history.
These are the important dates in Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, Chicago PD and Chicago Justice past that you might remember. And if you don’t, we’ve got a refresher.
While there’s nothing new happening now because of the Winter Olympics on NBC, there’s a few premiere dates and one big birthday to celebrate.
Here’s what happened in One Chicago history this week:

January 12: Chicago Fire star Jesse Spencer celebrates a birthday.
Today we’re saying happy birthday to Jesse Spencer, the man behind Captain Matthew Casey on Chicago Fire. Check out our birthday tribute for Jesse Spencer here.
February 13, 2013: The Chicago Fire season 1 episode “Nazdarovya” airs.
Five years ago this week, things came to a boiling point between Casey and his mother when he insisted on knowing the truth behind his father’s murder. Mrs. Casey said some pretty hurtful things to her son, prompting him to tell her to leave.
But this was also a big episode for Casey’s future wife Gabriela Dawson (Monica Raymund) as she was determined to clear her brother Antonio’s (Jon Seda) name at any cost. Gabby made a deal with Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) to protect Antonio, and it shows you how far we’ve come that this was a huge sticking point when today we wouldn’t think twice about it.
February 14, 2017: The Chicago Fire season 5 episode “Trading in Scuttlebutt” airs.
One year ago Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) made the split-second decision to override Chief Anderson (guest star Michael Hanrahan) at a scene, which saved the lives of Anderson’s men. Unfortunately Anderson didn’t see that as a positive outcome, and instead focused on the damage to his reputation and his need for revenge.
While he reassigned most of Firehouse 51 to other, much less desirable posts, Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) contemplated moving to Springfield to be with his new love Anna Turner (guest star Charlotte Sullivan). But Anna told him not to change his life around for her.
But our favorite story from this Chicago Fire episode was when a stranger came into Molly’s asking for cash he said he needed for a job interview. Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) gave it to him and spent the whole episode being made to feel like he’d been suckered, but came out on top when the grateful man returned, paid back all the money and revealed he had gotten the job. It was another heartwarming One Chicago moment.

February 15, 2017: The Chicago PD season 4 episode “Seven Indictments” airs.
Last year Chicago PD had us wondering if Kenny Rixton (recurring guest star Nick Wechsler) had something to hide. Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) stirred up so much doubt about the reason Rixton would be the only member of his previous gang unit not to be indicted that everyone was calling in favors to get to the truth. It got so heated that eventually Voight had to step in and threaten everyone with reassignment if they didn’t stop asking questions.
But as the truth about Rixton did come out, this episode also brought back the man he was filling in for. Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) admitted that Kim Burgess’s (Marina Squerciati) promotion was the reason he’d fled Intelligence, but then he planted one serious kiss on Burgess…and the matter was hardly touched upon again until this season, when the two went home together.
February 16, 2015: The Chicago Fire season 4 episode “Bad for the Soul” airs.
This week gave us the first appearance of Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo), as she joined the One Chicago family three years ago today. Stella’s arrival at Firehouse 51 meant that Jimmy Borrelli (Steven R. McQueen) moved from being a firefighter to a paramedic, which was uncomfortable for Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) since she had a bit of a crush on him. Well, we know how that (didn’t) work out.
Two seasons later, Borrelli is gone and Stella remains a big part of the Chicago Fire team, though we wish she’d just get back together with Severide already.
February 16, 2016: The Chicago Med season 1 episode “Clarity” airs.
Three years ago, Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) continued to struggle with the repercussions of disobeying a patient’s Do Not Resuscitate order and continued to take his anger out on future girlfriend Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto).
Will accused Natalie of causing the death of one of his patients by changing his treatment orders. When she finally demanded an explanation for his behavior, he responded in a surprising way: by kissing her. We’re fairly certain that’s not what anyone expected him to do, Natalie included. Of course now they can’t get enough of each other!
February 16, 2017: The Chicago Med season 2 episode “Cold Front” airs.
Last year this week gave us the best episode of Chicago Med season 2, when the hospital dealt with a huge blizzard (ironically two years and a week after the Chicago Fire episode about an ice storm).
So much happened in “Cold Front” whether it was Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee) trying to keep a burn victim alive long enough to say goodbye to his wife, or Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell) and Dr. Isidore Latham (recurring guest star Ato Essandoh) having to make the tough choices in triage.
“Cold Front” will be best remembered, though, for the important lesson it taught us about the ability in disability.
February 17, 2015: The Chicago Fire season 3 episode “Headlong Toward Disaster” airs.
After the death of his father, Boden needed to take some time off three years ago, which left Firehouse 51 under the temporary control of Chief Pat Pridgen (guest star Matthew Del Negro), It took Pridgen less than five minutes to get on everyone’s last nerve.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, Casey realized he might be endangering his career when he discovered the new woman in his life, Beth (guest star Bree Williamson), was actually Pridgen’s estranged wife. Even Severide thought it was bad news, and that’s saying something.
February 18, 2015: The Chicago PD season 2 episode “What Do You Do” airs.
Kim Burgess and Sean Roman (Brian Geraghty) were the focus in this episode three years ago. After noticing some suspicious activity, they pursued the suspects without notifying for backup which resulted in Roman being seriously wounded and both of them trapped in a warehouse, weaponless and fighting for their lives.
After making such a huge mistake, they pulled together to outwit their captors. In retrospect, this episode is almost a bit painful to watch, because we know it’s not the last time that Roman will be wounded in the line of duty.
