February flashback: Chicago Med season 1, episode 10
Two years ago Chicago Med had trouble between Will and Natalie in Chicago Med season 1, episode 10. Look back on the episode in our February Flashback.
With Chicago Med taking most of February off for the Winter Olympics, we’re rolling back the clock and revisiting the Chicago Med episodes that previously aired this month.
On Feb. 16 two years ago, the series premiered “Clarity,” the first-season episode that had sparks fly between Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) and Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto).
However, at least initially, they weren’t the kind of sparks that everyone was already hoping for.
Instead Will was majorly on tilt following the events of the previous episode, which nearly had cost him his job and would continue to haunt him for the rest of season 1 and into season 2. He was an angry man, and he needed to take it out on someone.

Will spent a large portion of Chicago Med season 1, episode 10 taking things out on Natalie, with their situation coming to a head when he went way too far and accused her of being responsible for the death of one of his patients.
Naturally, Natalie was not going to stand for such a harsh accusation, especially when it was completely unfounded. She put Will in his place, and that fight led to one of the most memorable moments in all of Chicago Med season 1.
Because instead of just apologizing, Will thought this would be a good time to show Natalie how he really felt about her. He kissed her, throwing her (and us watching at home) for a major loop and giving Manstead shippers something to hold onto until the even bigger kiss at the start of season 3.
Elsewhere in “Clarity,” Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell) seemed to be getting it from all sides. He and his new boss Dr. David Downey (recurring guest star Gregg Henry) couldn’t agree on their case of the week, while Connor’s relationship with Dr. Sam Zanetti (Julie Berman) continued to degrade.
And the show foreshadowed a bit of Dr. Sarah Reese’s (Rachel DiPillo) career change, because she actually thought about leaving Chicago Med in this episode. At the time, she was just figuring out which hospital she wanted to be matched to, but she would ultimately end up departing when the season ended—only to come back, of course. But in retrospect, you can kind of tell in “Clarity” that all is not quite figured out in Reese’s world (and maybe it still isn’t).
For an episode called “Clarity” there really wasn’t much of it, was there?
