Chicago Med’s Dr. Natalie Manning may have met her match this week. Look forward to tonight’s episode with our Chicago Med season 3, episode 10 preview.

We’re excited that Chicago Med is back, but one of the show’s characters may not be so thrilled with what’s going to go down in tonight’s episode.

Season 3, Episode 10 is called “Down By Law” and in the first episode since Feb. 6, the focus is on Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto).

Fans know that Natalie will go pretty far for any patient that she believes needs her help, even if they haven’t asked for it or if there could be consequences. But in this episode, she appears to be crossing a whole other line.

We know from the episode description that Natalie treats a young girl who is married to a much older man, and Natalie is not okay with that.

That presents us two questions: one, how Chicago Med will tackle the “child bride” concept (especially as there’s renewed discussion of the topic, with TV putting out several new specials about Warren Jeffs earlier this month).

Number two, how far will Natalie actually go to do what she believes is best for her patient? This is a woman who’s made a number of bold decisions in three seasons.

She’s been involved in calling DCFS multiple times, and let’s not forget that this will be right after the episode where she fought to keep alive an ill baby who eventually died anyway. Natalie has a big heart, but it often clouds her judgment.

But for fans of the show, Natalie facing some consequences might not be a bad thing. She hasn’t quite learned when to put the brakes on, so “Down By Law” could teach her that, as tough as it’d likely be.

And let’s not forget that she’s now dating Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss), who got into so much trouble during the first season that Halsteading became a verb. If it’s suddenly Natalie who has a legal problem, it’d be very interesting to see how Will reacts to it, and if he can make use of any of his experience to help her or at least empathize with her.

That could just add a whole other layer to the Manstead relationship, albeit a really dramatic one, and it might lead to great material for both Torrey DeVitto and Nick Gehlfuss. But that all depends on how much Chicago Med season 3 explores this plot. And is Natalie still upset with Will after the way last episode ended?

Elsewhere on Chicago Med, this episode includes more of Dr. Sarah Reese (Rachel DiPillo) taking risks, and coming into conflict with Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt). Reese being on tilt has been a theme for the last several episodes, so will “Down By Law” wrap that up or just keep pushing her to act out further?

We’ll be halfway through the season when this episode ends, so this would be a great episode for the show to tie up its plot points so far and introduce some new ideas to explore in the next batch of 10 episodes. Tune in and see how far things move forward, and how far Natalie and Reese may fall.
