Chicago Fire will show what happens to Severide and Casey, then what? Look forward to the episode with our Chicago Fire season 6, episode 12 preview.

Thursday brings Chicago Fire back from hiatus, and answers the question of what happened to Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) after they jumped off a roof.

While everyone is worried about Severide and Casey, the resolution of their cliffhanger is not a huge part of “The F Is For.”

One Chicago fans who saw the photos for this episode have already been spoiled about what happens with both characters, and the episode’s promo was a little spoilery, too.

If you’re eagle-eyed, you already know what’s coming. So where is the real suspense going to be in this episode?

More from One Chicago Center

“The F Is For” should get some tension out of how everyone else reacts to the situation. For example, does Gabriela Dawson (Monica Raymund) have a heart attack considering that this is the second time in 13 episodes that the show has wanted her/us to fear for Casey’s life? The woman must be under so much stress at this point.

And then there’s Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) who will obviously have some reaction to Severide’s fate. She’ll also be doing it while her boyfriend Zach (guest star Daniel Di Tomasso, back for another episode) is standing right there.

Freaking out over your ex-boyfriend’s near death experience, when your current boyfriend also could have died and is just a few feet away? The same ex-boyfriend that you brought up on your last date? If that’s not awkward, we don’t know what is.

We’re actually a bit more interested in the subplot of this Chicago Fire episode, which involves two birthday parties booked into the firehouse on the same day.

For one, we know the episode needs a funny subplot to offset the tension, but it feels weird to go from your two main characters might be dead to birthday party hijinks.

For two, the story involves Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg) and Connie (recurring guest star DuShon Monique Brown). We are always in favor of more Connie, and Connie together with Herrmann ought to be a dynamic combination. As will Herrmann with kids. Heck, even Connie with kids. There are just so many ways this could be awesome—or awesomely terrible.

We’ll find out Thursday night, but until then watch the moment that Chicago Fire season 6 left us on, and get ready to see what happens next:
