Chicago Fire introduces Daniel Di Tomasso in tonight’s Chicago Fire season 6 episode. But who is Daniel Di Tomasso? Get to know the actor and his character.

Daniel Di Tomasso is coming to Chicago Fire in Thursday’s episode, and his arrival is going to shake up two of the show’s favorite ships.

In tonight’s episode “Foul Is Fair,” Daniel Di Tomasso plays Zach, a Hazmat officer who crosses paths with Firehouse 51 on a call.

He immediately catches the eye of Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo), as well as the recently single Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer), and the two compete for his romantic interest.

So who is this actor who’s coming in to complicate both Stellaride and Brettonio?

Daniel Di Tomasso recently finished a series regular role as Detective Wes Nolan on TNT‘s Major Crimes. He was a regular in the show’s sixth and final season after recurring in Major Crimes season 5.

Before that, his best known role was a part in Lifetime’s supernatural drama Witches of East End. He played Killian Gardiner, the love interest of Freya Beauchamp (portrayed by Jenna Dewan-Tatum) and brother of Dash Gardiner (Eric Winter), in 23 episodes from 2013 to 2014.

Stellaride and Brettonio shippers aren’t going to be happy to see Daniel Di Tomasso, as Zach is a rival for both Stella’s and Kidd’s affections. But whichever woman he ultimately chooses, he’s not going anywhere for a little while.

NBC’s official descriptions confirm that Zach sticks around on Chicago Fire for at least the next three episodes (tonight’s episode and two more). Given that Derek Haas has confirmed that we’ve not seen the end of Brettonio, evidence points toward Zach hooking up with Stella.

Di Tomasso has experience playing the love interest to a character, and in having that relationship be complicated—on Witches of East End, he competed with his character’s own brother—so he’d seem to be the right man for the job. The question is whether or not Chicago Fire fans will be as interested in Zach as Brett and Stella are.
