Chicago Justice’s Joelle Carter cast in ABC pilot Salvage
We now know what former Chicago Justice star Joelle Carter will be doing next, as she has a new TV role and it comes with a very interesting twist!
Joelle Carter finally has her next opportunity.
The actress, who played State’s Investigator Laura Nagel in Chicago Justice, has been cast as a series regular in the ABC pilot Salvage according to multiple media reports.
She’ll portray the character of Sunny Daniels, the mayor of the Florida town in which the show is based.
Aside from being a public figure in her own right, Sunny is married to Duke Daniels (Jim Belushi), the city’s biggest businessman who owns its only factory and makes sure things always turn out his way.

Joelle Carter is the last Chicago Justice star to book a follow-up gig. After the cancellation of Justice by NBC in May, Jon Seda returned to Chicago PD while Monica Barbaro reprised her role as Anna Valdez in two PD episodes and also took a co-starring role on Netflix’s The Good Cop.
Carl Weathers appeared in the animated series Explosion Jones, and Philip Winchester has taken his Peter Stone character to Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, where he’s now a series regular.

But what makes Carter’s role in Salvage particularly interesting is who she’s co-starring with.
She joins the previously cast Charity Wakefield, who is playing Duke’s daughter Gwen Daniels. Gwen returns to the city after some time away and with the reasons for her return not quite clear. But maybe they have something to do with the sunken treasure rumored to be afoot?
If that name sounds familiar, it’s because Wakefield co-starred with Philip Winchester in another NBC series called The Player. She played Cassandra King, the tech expert who assisted Alex Kane (Winchester) in his missions.
So it’s a small world, but also good news for One Chicago fans. It’s great to see Joelle Carter land another TV role after her underrated performance as Laura Nagel, and the fact that she’s working opposite Charity Wakefield ought to make Salvage appealing. Plus, who doesn’t love a good hunt for treasure?
And if anyone can play the tough town mayor that you don’t want to get on the wrong side of, it’s Joelle Carter.

This is just a pilot and ABC will have to pick the drama up to series before TV audiences can see it, but hopefully we’ll get to catch it on our small screens this fall.
