Which Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med characters had a good week and who didn’t? Here are this week’s One Chicago winners and losers.

In One Chicago, as in real life, some people have great weeks and other people not so much. So each Friday, we’re going to look back at the winners and losers of the week in our fandom.

Which characters from Chicago Fire or Chicago PD or Chicago Med had an awesome week and deserve a round of applause? Which characters got the short end of the stick this week and they probably need a hug or a stiff drink?

We’re highlighting the highs and lows of the week in this post, and we want you to tell us which characters you think came out ahead—or wound up behind—in the comments at the end of the article.

Here are our One Chicago winners and losers this week:

More from One Chicago Center

Loser: Alvin Olinsky

This week’s Chicago PD episode “Breaking Point” was terrible for Olinsky (Elias Koteas). The ongoing investigation into the murder of Justin Voight’s killer reared its head again, and this time Internal Affairs had two big pieces of evidence against him.

They had Olinsky’s DNA found with the body, and a witness who had seen both him and Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush) at the construction site where they buried it.

Aside from facing the prospect of time behind bars, Olinsky had to hire a lawyer, which put him in some financial distress—and when he went to Voight for help in that respect, he found out Voight had moved all of his money to protect himself.

Olinsky was left largely on his own to deal with IAD, and he didn’t seem convinced by Voight’s assurance that they’d get through the situation, as he was last seen leaving Intelligence without answering Voight’s question. We’re still not thinking that he’ll sell Voight out, but there’s no denying Olinsky had a rough week at the office.

Winner: Hank Voight

Technically, Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) is a winner this week, based on the events that took place in the latest Chicago PD episode. But for how long?

We’re calling Voight a winner because Olinsky did not roll on him despite having multiple reasons to do so. And per his conversation with Al in the bar, we know he also made a very sneaky move of putting his money in a trust for his grandson, to protect it from his own potential prosecution. So while the heat around him went up, Voight escaped anything bad happening to him.

But it’s clear he won’t be able to skate forever. He’s been able to use the rest of the Intelligence Unit as a buffer for most of this season, with Denny Woods (Mykelti Williamson) targeting them first, but eventually Voight is going to have to face his demons head-on. And we’re not so sure he’ll win anymore.

Loser: Chicago Med fans

Not to gripe, but One Chicago fans could be called losers this week with two of our three shows not airing new episodes. At least Chicago Fire was a rerun last night, but fans of Chicago Med were left empty-handed as NBC preempted the show entirely to launch the new drama Rise.

It’s a perfectly understandable decision in the big-picture sense, as NBC wanted to take advantage of the huge audience for the This Is Us season finale to get people to tune into Rise, especially as that show is taking over for This Is Us next week. If we were the network, we’d do the same thing.

But the end result was still us having to wait an extra week to find out what happens next on Chicago Med. The good news is next week, everything’s back to normal in One Chicago.
