Monica Barbaro’s Splitting Up Together debut airs Tuesday

Former Chicago Justice star Monica Barbaro is showing off her funny side Tuesday, in a new TV role.
Monica is guest-starring in the ABC sitcom Splitting Up Together, which stars Jenna Fischer (whom NBC viewers may remember as Pam from The Office) and Oliver Hudson (Rules of Engagement) as a couple whose divorce has the unexpected effect of reinvigorating their relationship.
In tonight’s episode, called “Nevertheless…She Went Clubbing,” Monica Barbaro plays the character of Lisa Apple. We don’t have specific details on her character’s role, but we do know that it’s a multi-episode arc, as she will also appear in next Monday’s episode!
She’s stayed fairly busy since the end of Chicago Justice. Monica has reprised her role as Assistant State’s Attorney Anna Valdez in two episodes of Chicago PD, while also appearing as the daughter of a con artist in one installment of FOX’s Lethal Weapon.

And we’ll get a chance to see her back in a series regular role in the upcoming Netflix original series The Good Cop, with Josh Groban and Tony Danza.

But first, here’s the summary for tonight’s episode of Splitting Up Together:
"Unbeknownst to Lena and to her dismay, Martin starts to date a familiar face and surprisingly begins to see the world of relationships through brand-new eyes.Meanwhile, Lena tries to show she’s a good role model to her kids by proving a point and faking a night out on the town."
Obviously, appearing in a sitcom couldn’t be more different from portraying the hard-charging ASA Anna Valdez, but that’s exactly why Chicago Justice fans will want to tune in tonight.
We didn’t get to see a lot of Monica’s funnier side during those 13 episodes, but she does have some great comedic talents and this will be a showcase for them. Since it’s more than one episode, as well, we’ll get to enjoy her back on our small screens for more than one week. What’s not to love about that?
Here’s a fun additional factoid, too: Monica Barbaro is the second One Chicago alum to guest star on an ABC sitcom in two weeks. Last week, former Chicago PD star Sophia Bush was the featured guest in an episode of Alex, Inc. Small world!
