Chicago Med season 3, episode 19 preview: Crisis of Confidence
Can Chicago Med get anyone to agree on anything while they still can? Look ahead to tonight’s episode with our Chicago Med season 3, episode 19 preview.
The hospital’s getting divided in this week’s episode of Chicago Med, so can any of our team get on the same page before somebody’s patient pays the price?
Tuesday’s episode is called “Crisis of Confidence” but there doesn’t appear to be any shortage of confidence among the doctors and nurses. Instead, it appears to be going the opposite way as we will see many of them butting heads.
Conflict has become a staple of this season of Chicago Med, but this week is going to make some of it personal, which is never good.
We know from the official description of this episode released by NBC that April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta) has reason to suspect that Emily Choi (recurring guest star Arden Cho) has stolen some painkillers from the hospital’s lockup.

That’s not going to go over well with her boyfriend and Emily’s brother, Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee). But Choi has always been a level-headed guy, so will he hear April out before he gets upset?
Or could he be even angrier at Emily, considering that he himself was skeptical of her turnaround until just recently? He knows her history of questionable behavior.
Or could Emily be innocent? That doesn’t seem likely, since somebody committed the theft and she is the easiest choice—it wouldn’t have much effect for the audience if it ended up being some random nurse or doctor we don’t know—but it’s possible.
Still, it’s another couple at odds because of something going on at work. It’ll be interesting to see how they handle this latest disagreement compared to the big blowouts that we’ve seen Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) and Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto) have. But Manstead’s recent fights also involved an issue in their relationship, and Chexton doesn’t have one that we know of.
Upstairs, Chicago Med has the cardiothoracic surgeons fighting again in “Crisis of Confidence,” so it may as well be just another day in that department.
The back and forth between Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell) and Dr. Ava Bekker (Norma Kuhling) has been the one gear that they’ve been stuck in for a while. It provides great drama, but at the same time, you never just want to see one thing all the time. And no, the creepy and then awkward subplot of Connor’s dad hitting on Ava and making Connor realize he still has feelings for her doesn’t count as a change of pace.
These two have had some of the show’s most intense arguments, but what will set this one apart from the rest? Can we get some good screen time for Dr. Isidore Latham (Ato Essandoh) while he tries to keep them on the same page? Where is all of this arguing inevitably going to lead, since we are looking at the last episode before the season finale?
