Frozen: The Broadway Musical CD releases today
Frozen: The Broadway Musical’s soundtrack album, featuring Chicago Med alum Patti Murin, is now available as a physical CD release.
If you still haven’t heard Chicago Med‘s own Patti Murin as Princess Anna in Frozen, now you’ve got another chance to pick up the cast album. Starting today, the Frozen Broadway soundtrack is available on CD.
This follows the digital album release last month, but for some reason, the CD version was held back at that time. But if you’ve been waiting for a physical copy you can hold (and put in your CD player), now you can get it.
The track listing for the CD edition is exactly the same as the digital album that’s currently out on iTunes, so if you purchased that in May, there’s nothing new here.
Yet if you haven’t gotten your copy yet, you absolutely should. Patti Murin delivers an absolutely beautiful performance as Anna, and has some of the album’s best songs. What she’s able to do is something special. Give a listen to this duet with the superb Jelani Alladin to hear what we mean:
Outside of the One Chicago connection, the music on the record is well worth listening to even if you haven’t had a chance to see the play. Caissie Levy is an excellent choice as Anna’s sister Elsa, and the rest of the cast does well in their roles, too.
The record has the kind of big numbers that one would expect from a Broadway production and from a Disney property, and it also contains several new songs that were written for the musical and not heard in the hit film. It’s everything that a Broadway cast album is supposed to be and then some.

The CD release for Frozen: The Broadway Musical comes just ahead of this year’s Tony Awards, where the production is nominated for Best Musical. We’ll find out Sunday night if it becomes a Tony Award-winning musical. Until then, One Chicago fans can enjoy this excellent album.
