Former Chicago PD star Sophia Bush is celebrating her birthday, so we’re celebrating her and her Chicago PD character, the dedicated Erin Lindsay.

Today we’re saying happy birthday to Chicago PD‘s former leading lady Sophia Bush. She may not be part of One Chicago anymore, but she hasn’t been forgotten!

This time last year, we were still processing the news that Erin Lindsay was on her way out of both the Intelligence Unit and Chicago—as we’d just learned less than two months earlier that Sophia Bush was leaving the series.

Though a whole season has passed since, there’s no denying that she is still a significant part of Chicago PD.

Her character was referenced multiple times throughout the fifth season: first in the premiere episode “Reform” as the team dealt with Lindsay’s absence, and then near the end of the season when it became clear someone had seen her and Alvin Olinsky (Elias Koteas) moving the body of Justin Voight’s killer.

Add in all of the speculation amongst fans and media as to why Sophia Bush chose to leave the show, and it was almost like she hadn’t really left. On and off screen, viewers still understandably missed her.

And why wouldn’t they? Sophia Bush created a character who became as big a part of Chicago PD as anyone else. The show may have been built around Hank Voight, but Erin Lindsay was as huge a part of it as he was. She was half of the show’s biggest relationship, the series’ female lead, and her bond with Voight was rivaled only by what he had with Olinsky.

Luckily for One Chicago fans, she’s stayed very busy since. You can hear her in movie theaters now in Disney-Pixar’s The Incredibles 2, she guest-starred on ABC‘s (since-cancelled) sitcom Alex Inc., and she’s signed a development contract to pursue new TV projects with 20th Century Fox.

She may have hung up Erin Lindsay’s badge, but Sophia Bush isn’t going anywhere. And she will always be a welcome part of the One Chicago family for the four seasons and countless memories she provided fans around the world. Happy birthday, Sophia!
