Chicago PD alum Wendell Pierce stars as a CIA agent in Amazon’s Jack Ryan, and fans can catch him in this Jack Ryan trailer.
Wendell Pierce, who played Alderman Ray Price during Chicago PD season 5, has another big role on the horizon—he’s teaming up with Jack Ryan.
Pierce is a series regular in the new Amazon original series Jack Ryan, based on the character from Tom Clancy’s novels (and several subsequent film adaptations).
He plays James Greer, a former CIA case officer who’s now moved up the ladder and is supervising Jack (who’s portrayed by John Krasinski, recognizable to NBC viewers for his role as Jim Halpert on The Office).

It’s no surprise that Wendell Pierce is playing the boss figure; he certainly threw his weight around on Chicago PD, when Price went head to head with Hank Voight (Jason Beghe). He’s a perfect fit in that capacity, with his natural screen presence and that general vibe like he doesn’t want to take any nonsense.
Given the title of the show, it’s clear that the focus will be on Jack and how he goes from being a CIA analyst to one of its top field operatives—but One Chicago fans will want to check it out to see how Pierce navigates the world of the CIA, which is usually depicted as equally murky and morally questionable as Voight and the Intelligence Unit.

It’s a busy time for Wendell Pierce, who’s also reprising his role as Robert Zane on USA‘s Suits during that show’s eighth season, which is currently airing on Wednesdays.
No word on if he’ll find his way back to Chicago PD, but Amazon has already ordered Jack Ryan season 2 before the first season’s even started. And if Intelligence ever crosses over with the CIA we know who to call.
